Hi Tracey, thank you for all your amazing tutorials! I just wanted to ask you do you have a recipe for a deep sponge cake? I have attempted a few times and it's completely sunk in the middle. Thanks xxx
@Cherrycakeco5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Mazeda! Sure, i just use the regular victoria sponge recipe - 8 eggs and 400g of everything else (butter/sugar/sr flour). I then distribute this batter between 2x 7" tins (they are 3" in height) If the middle is sinking, add a few more grams of plain flour (just in case your eggs were big!) or you are opening the oven door too soon and its sinking x Good luck!

Hello tracy Does the fondant cake need to be kept in the fridge before applying the water colour?? Or can we do this step right after we cover the cake with fondant??
@Cherrycakeco5 жыл бұрын
Hi! No just room temp, and I like to let my sugarpaste firm up a little so it's not as easy to leave marks from finger prints etc :D x

Hi Tracey, totally off topic here, but I watch your tutorials avidly every week, and I’ve noticed you always start with the cake already baked. I’m looking for a basic cake recipe that is sturdy enough under fondant, but still tastes delish 😋 Could you share yours or is that a trade secret?
@Cherrycakeco5 жыл бұрын
Hi Debbie! No it's no secret, I've shared it a few times, its just the bog standard regular victoria sponge recipe! 8 eggs and 400g of the butter/sugar/sr flour + splash of vanilla. Like to keep it fuss free and simple!
@deborahsudan19205 жыл бұрын
Thanks. 👍🏻I think i am gonna try this technic for my next cake. 😁😁

Last time I tried this watercolour effect, I nearly had a heart attack. Way too much water and the paste started melting. You made it look so easy.
@harrietoneil39115 жыл бұрын
I tried once with water too, and it never totally dried. Stayed tacky. But I worry about alcohol with kids eating the fondant.
@Warning2035 жыл бұрын
@@harrietoneil3911 Alcohol is supposed to evaporate super quick if you use a high enough strength or buy from the cake shops. Personally can't use it because of religious reasons. Lustring is a pain in the rear.
@Cherrycakeco5 жыл бұрын
I just let the cake firm up a little after covering so the sugarpaste wasn't too soft, and excess can be taken off with the paper towel :D Mine dried fully so not sure what happened there Harriet! Maybe the gel brand?
@harrietoneil39115 жыл бұрын
@@Cherrycakeco I painted right after the fondant was placed, so it was soft. Thanks for the tip.
