What's up everyone!
Internships are valuable opportunities that give you experience working in your desired field as a full time employee for a few months typically during the Summer. I learned a lot about the software world through my internship opportunities along with what I like and don't like career wise.
I hope this video helps you navigate the internship world that best suits your career aspirations and look forward to hearing the amazing things you're doing in the engineering and tech world!
As always, thanks for watching this video and God bless!

My GPA is under 2.5 and I was able to obtain 2 internships because of how involved I am in programming, going to tech events, hackathons, tutoring, etc. Some companies do still care about GPA but you’re right a lot don’t and those are the companies that are able to hire passionate developers. Keep producing content, I love it !

Thank you for such a amazing video with your experience. I am set for next semester and I am taking data structures. I plan to use winter break to study the material beforehand. Currently studying hard for finals, to keep my A's. Did you ever feel during your time in college that you were scared to talk to the professor or do you think over time it goes away cause now that I have been using office hours I have felt so much more comfortable with my professor. But keep up the good work.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I wouldn't say I was scared, but I will say as I went to more and more office hours and grew relationships with my professors I ended up looking forward to going to office hours.

Hey, what is the name of the retail conferences you mentioned? I have been searching online, but I can only find paid ones and they cost $$$$$$. Great content!

I haven't even considered applying for internships out of state. What would you have done, in terms of living situation, if you had gotten an offer from one of those companies in the Bay Area? As a college student, I can't afford to rent a place out there so I never even considered that.

I like the video! How would you recommend to search for internships? I currently just look through my schools programs but there aren’t a lot. What other ways would you recommend?
@nevillemathew6521
@nevillemathew6521 4 жыл бұрын
You should check out job searching sites but honestly school programs are way better because you have a higher chance of getting called or even accepted. Since companies know about your school and they have no doubt that the students are good.

Applying and putting yourself out there and showing up is half the battle. And tips on what skills to pick up for certain areas? Like if i wanted to get more into front end what would you suggest
@Geomaverick124
@Geomaverick124 4 жыл бұрын
I would suggest HTML, CSS, Javascript, and React. You can also do Wordpress to get a first job quickly

Learn about Node, php, python, and/or asp.net (just pick one based on your area) and build a site using a frontend like React, uses a database like mysql or mongodb, has authentication, and uses an API.

I will be 33 in March, do you think I'm too old to get an internship. I have tried to get in the field without a degree, but I haven't gotten anything, so I'm switching my major.

Do you have any tips for people going to boot camps?
@GyasiLinje
@GyasiLinje 4 жыл бұрын
True the process and build a personal portfolio of at least your own personal website and other side projects. Some of the smartest developers I’ve worked eithh hi did a boot camp.
@yangchun7458
@yangchun7458 4 жыл бұрын
I was graduated from a boot camp and only thing I would advise you is that if you are not located in USA don’t go to boot camp, instead go to big name university. I’m in Canada and job market is flood with boot camp graduate so it is harder to get a job as boot camp graduate right now. And that’s why I go back to university and have a CS major now : (

Very helpful! What programming language do software engineers work with?
@zeyad7947
@zeyad7947 3 жыл бұрын
it depends on what kind of software engineering your working with. But in general I'd say, know python for problem solving and java for object oriented. If you know how to use these two languages well, then you should be golden and all set. After that learning other languages will be cake. But also i cant stress this enough, but LEARN how memory works in these languages. And like math practice makes perfect. so just work and dont give up cuz it can get realllllllly stressful.
