I just bought a Moroccan ney, from Oujda, and watching this immediately improved my ability to get a bare sound from it by about 60%! Not bad, can only get better. Thank you!

The Ney is a patience instrument. You can't just pick it up and play around. It requires patience. But just as Kalia states at the end, it's worth it. Don't give up, keep trying. For those who want a beginners Ney, you can get a Turkish "kiz" Ney. These are smallest models (70 cm) originally produced for girls. The name " kiz" makes it obvious to anyone who knows Turkish (or the Turkish word for girl)

Today is my very very very first day playing the Ney. I got a really good sound when my professor held it for me, but I cannot do it on my own yet. Hopefully I can get it with patience!!!
