you are so real for this im so sick of people being like oh you are so lucky you get these jobs, babe I’m going to 100 interviews and getting 1 job, you’re going to 5 and then complaining you didn’t get any. we are not the same. effort directly correlates with reward and you’re so right, a large majority of gen z does not understand this.

as an idea effort does corelate to reward but maratocracy isnt real, its about being in the right place in the right moment, there are certain things that are (unfortunatly) out of our hand that put back certain groups of people, its not that gen z is lazy, they know the value of their labor and the fact that in our capitalist system their replaceable because of said put backs, like theyre not gonna go above and beyond because theyre not paid to do so, nor will they ever will be

@@sizofren8710 This. Companies just want to exploit you to hell. The more you give them, the more they think they have a go-pass to make you work 100x more than they pay you. We need to be more clearcut, and ofc work hard but not above and beyond that we're paid to. We're NOT slaves, you're not doing some holy miracle that saves us or something goddamit. Let us do the work that we signed up for and are paid accordingly (and fairly) for.

Let's be real here, though. It's sad we have to apply to hundreds of positions and go through hundreds of interviews, most often than not most are not even something of your studies, academic background, interest or skill level (whether higher or lower) or even connections you've got with people. It *genuinely does* suck. And no, most people are not "lazy" girl bffr. Everybody wants a nice job and many, *many* people put in the same exact effort you did. There are so many variables at count here, blaming people like that is just ridiculous.

Woah this video is so real, i had an experience this summer that woke me up and made me realize how harsh, brutal and competitive the world is. I really was living in my own world and thought that i'm the main character, but there are many other "" main characters"" out there who work harder than me and are probably smarter than me too, also the world literally owes me nothing lmaoo so thank you so much for this, it woke me up again i really needed that. As much as I agree with this, another way of getting ahead of the competition is authenticity and finding your area of interest and passion. I know they say we should do jobs for money but the reason why you can't put in enough effort to land you in the top 20% is because you don't love what you are doing and you are not passionate about it. When you are passionate about a field of work, it's no longer hardwork and this is what differentiated earlier generations from us. They did the research, the intellectual work, the business for the love of it. Nobody can become a master especially with the arduous work involved or necessary effort without first loving that field. Find what you really love, what you naturally have insights at and throw yourself at it. Give it your all. The money and fame will follow. Even the work that might be seemingly hard to others will seem easier to you.

Not everyone sees other people as their competitors. Having this mindset will exhaust you in the long run. My professor in Marketing class always tells us to be collaborative, not competitive. Competitiveness just shows the sign of individualism, and it doesn't always work in this world. The goal is to make the world a better place to live, and people should help each other to solve the problem together; it's a win-win situation.

I've never watched your videos and this popped up on my feed for the first time and I was curious and I do agree with most of what you said in your video. ESPECIALLY for running your own business you have every right to not give someone the time of day if they can't even do the bare minimum of writing a proper email. BUT i do want to point out something you said about like entitlement and the young generation not wanting/ willing to work hard. while i do think its entitlement to some degree, I don't think its coming from a bad place. By that I mean that the entitlement is coming from the belief that "the world and people are better than it is". like yes corporate doesn't care about your individual issues when they are hiring you, And YES they dont care about YOUR stress level they care about you doing the job they hired you to do, BUT they should. In terms of humanizing the work culture, and building a better work culture/ world, I think the younger generations is idealistic and hopeful of shifting it, and in congruence with that idea they dont realize how harsh reality is. I'm not saying people should apply with shitty emails and have curse words in their application?? bizarre. BUT while i am trying to also navigate the harsh corporate work culture by understanding I need to go beyond, I also understand the other side. why does it have to be this toxic un-humanistic world? like why should you go above and beyond and give your best years to a corporate machine that doesn't value you as a human being and will replace you like a cog in a machine the minute you cannot fulfill your purpose? why do I have to guess what needs to be done to get this job instead of following the explicit instructions given? Ik i sound like such an idealistic child but I know why. But also like why? Cause we choose to make the world like this, there is nothing wrong with trying to improve and change it.

Yaaasss PREACH GIRL!!!! I'm seriously so happy someone sensible online made a video on the extreme entitlement people have nowadays, especially youngsters, and how this entitlement is literally just hurting them at the end of the day. For those who get hurt easily when they hear someone's harsh tone or harsh words, please know that this video isn't that. On the surface it might seem that her real talk is offensive or tries to belittle what experiences you have, but really, the bottom line of it all is humility. Be humble about your abilities, what you've accomplished so far, what you're doing, and how you'll get there. It's important to be humble and to acknowledge when you've made mistakes. Be humble and accept whatever constructive criticism is thrown your way because it only aims to benefit you. Her message is clear: in order to do well, you have to go above and beyond. If you can admit whether or not you actually are, then that can benefit you. And more so, if you can admit why it's hard for you, then addressing that problem should be your main objective first. But still, be humble and know that as much as you want to do good with your life, only the things that you put into the world will create an effect, and so making your good intentions come to life will be the most important step to do that. I hope everyone learns the same thing too... well at least that's what i got from it.

These working-class musical geniuses have become true aristocrats of the working class who've mastered social graces, skills which some royalties lack.

I also think working that hard gives you more confidence and lets you believe that you’re at least going to get one position in a career (if you apply to many places). I remember being soo scared of asking my teacher for a recommendation letter because I didn’t know if she liked me enough or if I stood out to her. I got the recommendation letter, but if I made an effort to make sure that we had a good relationship and that I stood out above other students, then I wouldn’t have had to worry about a rejection.

This is my first time watching one of your videos. I love how you consistently mention, “At the end of the day, everyone has their own problems.” It is so true! I do realize this self-entitlement occurs in a lot of people these days especially, even though it’s always been around. There are people working harder than others to get to where they want to be. I’m currently working 2 jobs to get experience and attending college full time for the sake of becoming a teacher to young children in hopes of actually fixing all of these problems! Sure but let's not forget that capitalism does not always reward hard work. It runs by exploiting the vast majority of its workforce. If someone is going through mental health challenges and the company can't understand, I'm sorry but that just means you're working for a toxic person/company. You might think breaking up might be a silly excuse but how would you really know how much it is affecting the other person? What if they had a mental breakdown or fell into a severe depression that could even cost their life? You do realise that work-related suic*des are still on a rise. Going "above and beyond" has literally killed people. To people who are reading this, NOTHING is more important than your HEALTH/MENTAL HEALTH. If a job starts disrupting your ability to function, then it's because most of these are toxic and aren't accommodating those who are neurodivergent or face other mental health issues.

As a medical student, your comment speaks to me because the field of medicine unfortunately has the highest rate of suicides. I definitely agree with you on nothing is more important than your health😊 I’ve been reminded of that many times and believe it should be universally recognized so thank you for sharing that! I also however do not think Simone is encouraging people to go above and beyond when their mental health is at risk. Competent adults should have the capacity to realize when their physical or mental health is being pushed to its limits and thus we, as adults, can then proceed to make our own decisions about how to handle that matter (i.e. leaving a job/career because of its toxic and demanding environment, seeking professional help, etc.) We have every right to terminate something (or someone👀) when they pose a threat to our overall health. Simone here, however, is reminding us that when there exists something we so passionately desire, there should be nothing stopping us from going above and beyond to reach that and we are the only ones to recognize our own limits. I committed to this field knowing that the medical profession kills people. But my ultimate desire to become a doctor outweighed the risks and I will continue to go above and beyond to become the professional I have always aspired to be while being competent enough to know when to go easier on myself🤍

I think this really highlights how bullshit the whole 'main character' trope is nowadays. Like, there's people going around preaching that they're the main character when the only main character quality they have is being entitled because 'the universe works in my favour.' The universe will work in your favour only if YOU work for yourself. Yes, you can be the main character of your life, but you have to show up as them too. There's a difference between being kind to yourself by honouring your needs and making excuses for yourself because you don't want to work. This is the kind of tough love I think everybody needs and it's some of the best advice I've ever heard. Thank you simone. Love you queen

simone, i hate the fact that you are so brutally honest about this. saying that the world is harsh, brutal, and tough. in my entire life i never liked the fact that we need to accept that, i wished that i could live in peace with minimum effort. hey, that is not gonna happen. in order to thrive and live on the top 20% i need to work hard and smart, i need to give efforts. lots of people dont do that nowadays especially gen z! i always wonder “how r they so easy on being lazy” (i have been there too) while there r little amounts of people who is trying to thrive. thank you, this video makes me sad and ambitious at the same time. sad because i dont want to accept these facts, and ambitious because i want to thrive at the top!! i need to deal with it, i need to deal that the world is like this. love that you r doing this simone. this video is going to my daily watch routine so that i can remember “the world is tough”.

I am so glad that now all of us have an opportunity to share their experience in social media. And I am more glad that younger people can find this and get support. Sometimes I am thinking maybe I need to share my story, my lessons and my experiences here🤔 Because it’s the best thing to be helpful for others♥️

I clicked on this video out of curiosity since the title is not what I want to achieve or become. I understand your concept of working hard but I am sure as hell that I don't want this live. You always say, that people don't care how I feel and stuff, you know what I don't care about? How people see me at the end of my time. I don't want or need be remembered as hard working, or determinated. I am satisfied and happy with what I have and with what I achieved, even if I may belong to the 80% of people. One of the only things I want is to be remembered as doing my job really good, but it doesn't have to be top tier level and also as a comfort person.

I always appreciate your advice Simone and your tough love is genuinely a part of me becoming mentally stronger this past year. I actually thought about applying to this position, but I felt unqualified and did not want to waste your time. It baffles me that people sent emails like how you're describing. I thought that I'd be competing against hundreds of qualified, hard-working candidates. After watching this video I can accept now that I'm afraid of putting in all this effort for something that has no guarantee. I see myself doing it at my workplace and it feels like I am wasting my time and youth. I think if you could discuss failure and understanding when something is meant for you if you keep going vs when it's not would be a great video.

Simone, you're not saying anything interesting in this video and it could be way shorter since you're only repeating yourself for 10 minutes lol, "get up and work", but you're not giving the "how to get ahead of others and beat the competition" so you might as well change the title.

Six months from now, I'll send you an update. Just to remind you, what you do.. works. And that update, now - is my light at the end of the tunnel. Godspeed. See you in 6. Thanks.

Simone, I truly appreciate and like your videos, but I feel that the title is quite misleading. Honestly, this video was 90% about you telling us how people who "go above and beyond" and work hard catch your eye..The rest 10% was one meaningful message: work hard. (Don't you think there are several people in that 80% that work hard but still don't see expected results?) As soon as I read that title and clicked on the video, these questions came to focus -What is it that truly separates the 20% from the 80%? - I feel overwhelmed looking at how far ahead my competition already is..How do I overcome that regret and guilt that fills me because of my past decisions? - What are some Habits or affirmations that will put me on a path to beat the competion and acctually get ahead of people? Sadly none of these questions were answered.

that was brutal. no sugarcoating just straight to the point. she rally put things into a bigger prespective. the world unfortunately dosen't revolve around us. our existance in comparison to the entire world is so little. our worth will not increase if we don't go above and beyond. no body cares about your problems. so u can either sit and be average or work hard (and smart) to outshine.

The top 20% find a way and the bottom 80% find excuses. The top 20% will do whatever it takes to succeed, the late nights/early morns/working weekends/working holidays. Then when the top 20% succeed, the bottom 80% will say that the top 20% are lucky. That’s why the bottom 80% stay at the bottom and continue with their sad, miserable and poor lives. Totally concur with your video 💪 Continue grinding hard and stay in the top 20%!

Whenever someone comes with their problems I tell them: "And what? No one cares" As harsh as that sounds, you pick up yourself and you fix yourself. It's important to develop an impecable work ethic, nothing great comes easy, hard work and effort puts you above everyone. There are people which regarding how they feel, they get the job done, and they're reliable and everyone starts to become dependent on them, because they actually bring quality to the table.
