I actually stopped time traveling for the DLC I've been to busy playing the day straight through designing houses. I had my 30 home celebration last night (it was epic) and this morning I was told about Nico needing materials so this would be day four for me. When I turned my game off tonight I was at 40... I can't stop. T_T I just figured out how to move my vacationers and change roommates and my venues are expanding and I'm so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content and how deep the decorating system is with personality types, hobbies, style preferences and oh yeah favorite colors.

I'm not sure how far you have to get.. but at some point, you get an ABD that allows to to convert Poki into Bells.

I just got that today, and I believe it was at 20 homes, and just before designing the hospital.

@@minuner No, it changes from day to day. Sometimes 100 Poki will equal 300 Bells, and other days 100 Poki will equal 175 Bells.

Right after hospital, can turn bells to poki as well as poki to bells. Very helpful

I didn't even know there were different type of pillars and Counters. I was really upset when all I had was the wood ones since my house doesn't have any wood in it and I really like the pillars. Thanks 😊

Thanks for this video. We didn't know that the yellow box was for Niko to give us new pillars and walls based on the materials we leave. I thought it was just one item that you can customize with kits.

I'm at 24 houses and still haven't unlocked counters and pillars. Talked to Niko at the workshop table. Next day, nada. Following day, nada. Following day, nada. You get the pattern.

If anyone else is experiencing this issue (which I'm sure is a bug considering Niko chats with most people the day after), I solved it by time traveling a few weeks ahead and then back again. To be honest, I don't consider it cheating if it fixes a bug, so even anti-TT'ers can give that a shot or risk not unlocking these until 2 weeks to a month later. I'm now back on my regular track.

After completing about 20 homes (excluding the facilities) I was still not able to unlock the pillars and counters! I was so frustrated because I had time travelled back and forth and done all sorts but nothing seemed to work until I spoke to Leif and completed the lesson he was teaching about hybrid plants, I was so relieved to go to work the next day and speak to Niko about the DIY recipe for pillars and counters so give this a go if you are still not able to unlock the pillars and counters!

I have all of them unlocked and trust me: if you have a fully upgraded house to decorate on your own island, then they're definitely worth crafting. Without counters in particular, I really couldn't get my kitchen and indoor crafting area looking the way I intended them to look.

If anyone's dumb enough to make the same mistake as I did, you have to leave the exact amount Niko asks for, I would leave 14 branches and 6 wood thinking as long as it covers what he asks for it would be fine and the next day Niko would never bring it up and I just kept leaving more and more materials. Finally put exactly 7 branches and 2 wood and finally got the text box that says "I've left all the materials for Niko!" 😮‍💨 never felt more dumb in my entire life😭😭 Thanks again for this video!!

hi, just wanted to let you know you’re not the only one experiencing this. at 15 homes i never unlocked the counters and pillars. i talked to people on reddit, one person said finishing the dlc and waiting a few days worked for them, i did that and it didn’t work. so far i haven’t gotten a solution and i checked everywhere. so i contacted nintendo about it, when i get an answer back i’ll let you know :)) this really sucks though cause i’ve seen so many design ideas i wanted try in my home and i literally cant cause it wont give me the counters and pillars :((

@@angleeka that’s really rough. :( I was actually going to contact Nintendo but it apparently corrected itself. The next time I went to the archipelago I got the recipes. I hope yours gets fixed soon too!

I was avoiding that DIY box thinking it wasn’t important until I saw other KZbinrs and my friends using concrete pillars when I created over 50 vacation homes, my friends ALL having near 25 built.

Unfortunately I wasn't getting these extra pullar and counter diys. I was still stuck with the basic wooden ones. Someone said in the comments to time travel 2 weeks into the future so that's what I did, and when I got to the office, it triggered the event that would allow me to drop off materials for Niko. So if anyone is struggling with getting different counters and pillars try time traveling a few weeks ahead.

I basically “finished” the DLC main quest (if you can call it that), and then gave him all the materials. It’s easy to miss if you’re focused on doing homes, since they don’t explicitly state it

@@penguinhaley2868 Ok, so when I logged in today Niko gave me the basic recipes for the DIY (wood pillar/counter/etc), so my friend said the next few days to look for Wardell to mention leaving materials to Niko and then every day you leave materials you can get the recipes, so I'll look for that. Did you get the wood ones? You should in the next few days you log in because I just got them today!

Solved: I did have to time travel ahead two weeks. So the game, while you can complete as many houses in a day, is set to trigger on real time.

I'm just now finding out there's more than just the wooden pillars, holy hell. Time to harvest a ton of materials! ...Though that's the biggest question; how many materials does he need for each item? I plan to just donate a whole stack, but if it's less, that'd be even better.
