The tricks are actually very logical, the glacial lure and mossy lure are speaking for itself. For umbreon and espeon: at night it's dark so you get the dark type umbreon and they sometimes refer to psychic with light, and at daytime it's clear/light, the 10 km is because if you would not need to do anything you wouldn't be able to get the vaporeon, flareon and jolteon because it's allways day or night To evolve eevee into sylveon you need to get a very good bond, this is also mentionned in the series xyz when the eevee of serena evolved.

The names do have meaning. In the Pokemon anime, Ash and company run into a trio of brothers. The brothers were themed and had evolved/named their eevee's according those names. Sparky for Jolteon, Pyro for Flareon, and Rainer for Vaporeon. As a reference to this, Pokemon Go added those 3 names as special ways to evolve them. I'm not sure about the later evolutions, but I think they were all references to the what nicknames trainers in the show gave their pokemon

The meaning is that in the show "Pokémon the Series: The Beginning", there was a family who wanted to show off their eeveelutions and the family consisted of 3 brothers: Pyro, Sparky and Rainer. Pyro primarily used a Flareon, Sparky a Jolteon and Rainer a Vaporeon. The other eeveelutions were added into the game.

The names are referring to the people who have that Pokemon in the anime, Sakura for example is a trainer who has an espeon, as for Rainer, sparky and pyro, they are owned by the eevee brothers and so on. That's where they got all the names from

Theres another version to get all of them you need to have these name Vaperon=rainer Jolten=sparky Flareon=pryo Espeon=sakura Umbreon-Tamao Leafeon=Linnea Glaceon=rea Sylveon=kira Type these on Eevees name and you will see there outline these only work once

For the 1st 3 there is a cartoon reference I remember the episode at the time it was during the original series There were 4 brothers each had a eeveelution The brothers names are Rainer, sparky, and pyro The last brother I forgot his name decided to keep his eevee as a eevee
