Babajide Solanke do some theatre and good quality short films or student films. you most likely won’t get paid but you’ll get footage, credit, and things on your resume. take that footage and make an actor’s reel. get some INDUSTRY STANDARD headshots. make your package (reel, headshots, resume, actor’s access) and uploadit all to actors access. oh and also constantly be training with reputable coaches. wendy has a lot of videos on “the package” you might want to start there

I was a skeptic when I began listening but you dropped in some solid info - and I've been in the biz for over 10 years, on both sides both acting and tech crew (professionally: union). I would just add - correct me if you think I'm wrong - that cold reading is the same thing done in the acting class (or acting prep) but done on the spot ... as an actor I think acting is just acting: just get really good at it. That's why breaking down the scene and preparing it (and having good tools and an understanding of it) is so key to all of this. Breaking the beats down, verbing (aka actioning) the beats, and tying it all in with the want of the moment is mandatory for an actor to stay on track with achieving a character - even if it's fast like a cold read or slow, like taking time of your own at home or in a class preparing. There's more to it - of course, but simply put - so far.

Jonathan Gutierrez you are quite welcome indeed FOR BRAND NEW PEOPLE Here are the 10 things you should start doing before you are even ready to be seen or heard by a manager or agent: 1. Learn How to act! Before you do ANYTHING else, get into tons of acting classes (scene study, on-camera acting, and improv); 2. Get professionalheadshots; 3. Create acting profiles on these three legit online casting sites: Casting Networks / LA Casting, Actors access, and Backstage. Call their companies about how to do it or watch their video tutorials. Having profiles is imperative and a key to getting seen; 4. Record a HD clip of a monologue or short scene using good lighting, good sound in front of a blank wall; 5. Upload your clip(s) to your online profiles (Actors Access and to KZbin. Then repeat until you have 4-5 clips or various attitudes and emotions; 6. Create a pro looking resume; 7. Submit yourself DAILY on those 3 casting sites; 8. Book a 5-10 short films, student films, and web-series; 9. Add your bookings and acting classes to your hard copy and online resumes as you go; and, 10. Upload 3-4 30 second clips to your online profiles. At that point, THEN present those to a manager or agent! If you come to the game not prepared with the core basics, you will not be taken seriously so please follow these minimum items to set yourself up for success! If you are fortunate enough to be asked to sign to a manager or agent, we also suggest you have a seasoned entertainment lawyer review your contract to ensure there are not overly aggressive, non-customary, or predatory terms. In many states, including California, for agents their contracts must be approved by the labor commission. Management contracts are not governed by a governing body like agents are, so it is especially important to have management contract reviewed. Our VIP Admin Patrick Ryan Blood has offered to review these deals, although there are many great entertainment lawyers in Los Angeles and around the country. ------------------- ONLINE ACTING CAREER TRAINING The Hollywood Winner’s Circle online training is the # 1 training course in the world for new actors. HWC is praised by Industry Executives, Agents, Managers and every actor taking the course! We recommend you start your acting career with this course. You know the moment you think you've soaked up all the material needed to start an acting career, you've attended the summer acting schools, did your best, learned so much then comes the most difficult part of this process is that person Who would believe in your talent to introduce you to a casting crew.

Wendy, I appreciate how you stressed about having your crap together [as illustrated with your Shark Tank tag]. Several acting workshops I've attended over 2015 and 2017 spoke about this. There are no second chances or excuses. You either know what you're doing or you sink. Professional headshots and a correct resume get you in the door.

Research talent agencies within your area that best suit you. If you search for agents worldwide, it'd be kind of hard for them to get an idea of you or see what you are made of from another country so it's best to stay local for the beginning When you have found a good agency that best fit's what you want to do, on their website, they should have a list of genres (casting directors, talent agents, talent managers, writer-editors) following the names of the people, many include their contact details (Phone, fax, email) so if that is shown that makes it a little easier to contact them whether you choose to email or call. If they only have the name's of the agents, you have a few options, 1) contact the company directly (Each website has a "Contact us" option, It's best to call as without a doubt they receive thousands of emails a day, where if you call, you can directly talk to admin to set up a meeting or see if they can help. The second option is researching the name, this option requires a lot more work as if you just google the name or search it in a social media platform, there'll be thousands of results so make sure you read, in-depth so you 100% know it is the right person. Last bit of advice, if you are not already signed up for some sort of training, join an acting class or school or course while you are waiting, within most classes, agents actually come to the students, they watch their performances and they actually give you their card if you show them you are who they want so that's another way. Hope this helps.

I see becoming an actor like you as the actor is the entity business. Casting directors are the customer and the agent is the employee who helps run your business. You have provided good service to your customer (CD) which helps represent your employee (agent). it's got some kinda domino effect to it. Luckily I have been starting and running my businesses and get an idea of what it's like. Professional acting is not just a career it's a business you need to learn to run or your business will fail.

Demiah Barbosa love to you Demiah! FOR BRAND NEW PEOPLE Here are the 10 things you should start doing before you are even ready to be seen or heard by a manager or agent: 1. We also recommend you only taking courses by reputable industry professionals!

Thanks so much, I love the comment you made about learning the business. I'm green, green green! I've just completed my first acting class and love it! Will I be famous or ever make a buck? Who know only time will tell but one thing I know is regardless of any level of success its deeply enjoyable. I also agree that one (me) should always be in some acting related class. The only thing I know for sure at this moment is I want to be part of the acting/film industry. At this point in time I'm studying every angle of the industry I can, it's like if fallen down the rabbit hole, the more I learn the mor I know I dont know. Thanks so much for service, I will tell other acting students about you. The world of acting & film is like an adventure into a hole new world. Thanks.
