This is what sets BITS Pilani apart from the rest. Apart from the summer internship at the end of 3rd year that occurs in top colleges, there is also a system of PS. PS 1: Students get to intern for 2 months in companies like Amazon, PayPal,Grofers,Nivea Samsung,ISRO etc after the end of 2nd year just on the basis of their CGPA, Preferences and disciplines. No rounds of recruitment. PS2: This happens in the final year. Students get to intern at top companies like Amazon, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Nomura, etc for 5-6 months again without any rounds of recruitments. They are also paid stipends( average being 40000+ per month).

Bro I don't want you to demotivate you but the fact is that the finalists of Google code jam have been doing coding for more than 5-6 years and all are red coders on Codeforces. Not here to demotivate you man, but no Indian has been in the finals of Code Jam over the past few years. You'll need to be able to solve almost every level of problem on CodeForces to even have a shot at Code Jam. Not only does it tests your problem solving ability like other competitions, but it takes a huge toll on your mind with a ton of issues like TLE, etc. You'll need a shit ton of practice. Most who do qualify for the latter rounds are people who have been coding since they were kids or they were utterly brilliant in their field of study.

Same thing happened to me during my college placement. About me, I am 2012 passout. Cleared every Round and even final round. My Degree %age was 81% but when final results came, I was rejected on the basis of +2 %age which was 59.8%. Not talking about 1 company but 5-6 MNC's. As a student, It was more than enough to shatter my confidence.

But not the job that i wanted because I wanted to work on a product based MNC's but got job in a Service based company. Now, I try to apply for big companies, but age factor, and computer languages i have worked with is the main reasons that companies avoid to hire me or any programmer who comes from service based company and tries to work in product based company because work culture is very different from each other.
