Great video! Something else I also do is play the league map with some acquaintaces while taking the very first turns since league plays are usually 1 to 2 turns per day irl. That way as the match progresses I'm more familiar with the playstyle (I also ask for my friend to pick the same CO my opponent on league picked). Surverying the opponents league replays can also make you aware of openers they like to do, specially if the played on that map before. Use all the tools available to you to get an edge on the opponent

Another thing to keep in mind is not to get discouraged after losing a match, because as excelblem said, you'll likely play the maps again, and once you realize mistakes by playing the map and losing, you do better the next time. Also, try not to give up too early! You never know if your CO power will let you turn the tides of the map.

another tip is to use the move calculator!!! it helps me alot in non-fog matches to simulate the most optimal move first before acting!!

If you get the worst side, just dogde lmao (just playing ofc) I think it's pretty weird that the map pool is so large when games can take so long and you only have 5 games at a time at most. In StarCraft II you can play multiple games a day and the map pool is generally 7 or 8 maps, at most, and you can ban 2 or 3, that you will get way less. 15 maps is just too much, you often play only once each map. The fact that the games are assyncronous also is a problem for matchmaking, like I accidentally won some games against opponent that were my ELO, then I started playing people that were way better and got destroyed, then on the next matches I was playing way better, but since my ELO dropped so much, I was playing against players that were way worse than me. This just makes for unbalanced games most of the time. I think the way the ranking works should be changed somehow

That said, I don't like AW pvp really. It's so needlessly infantry and capture driven to the point where I wonder how in the world no one made up rules to limit that. Only X infantry can capure for example. Or even just more pre captured cities.
