When you're talking about a sponsorship are you talking about a straight up commercial or an ad that you create and place within your regular video?
@owenvideo14 жыл бұрын
Living Ironically in Europe great question - it’s really both or either or neither. What I would do is propose that you make 5 regular video for your channel but find a way to build in their product or service. It might be a mention, it might be a tutorial... it’s up to you but all ideas are good ideas! There’s no wrong way. Just get a meeting with someone, ask what they want, and if it makes sense for you - do it!

I'm finally creating a media kit for my channel so this video was very helpful and well put together. What do you typically charge brands that want you to review their product?
@owenvideo14 жыл бұрын

This was such a *VALUABLE* 11 minutes! Love the pattern interrupt at 5:20! This is such great info, man, and is super-relevant for where I'm going professionally right now. QUESTION: I'm still wondering what the value prop is for the brand when we're not massively viewed yet, and especially with smaller local businesses that are probably more interested in more local reach - or at least creating videos that would be "just for them," rather than getting a couple shout-outs in our videos. Look forward to seeing the rest of the videos in the series! 👊
@owenvideo14 жыл бұрын
Someone who can make and star in the video. Someone who can get them through a process where they end up with a video they can use. I’d look at you doing videos about them on your channel and then THEY share those videos out with everyone. It appears like they are so popular they “KZbinrs” did a special on them (and that’s how you should present it). Does that make sense?
@BrianSellers4 жыл бұрын
@@owenvideo1 Gotcha - yep, I see it more clearly now. For instance... I'm editing a video right now about how to have a fun-but-safe family vacation as we're all feeling our way through "reopening." I also have a friend who owns a local travel agency, who - now that I think about it - is retooling her agency to help her clients by finding them fun-but-safe places to go on vacation. So *Brian-with-Owen's-awesome-ideas* could have gone to her and pitched my creating this video as a promo piece for her agency as well. Quick spot of us working together to choose a location; me dropping a "Thank you, Tina!" when we roll in and see how fantastic the place is; sweet b-roll showing the awesome trip itself; family thanking the agency at the end. Then I get paid to create a great video (that I was going to make anyway!), and she gets a fantastic case study to share. Yep, that would have been smart... 😂👍

All really great and excellent advice here only that it doesn't really work in the real world. Here's why: The majority of social media is filled with a bunch of spineless, thirsty, "peasant content creators" who are very happy and content to work for nothing (or very close to it) in exchange for a free widget and maybe a few dollars at best. Brands and companies know this and have come to expect to receive valuable video production, marketing, and promotion for literally nothing. When a brand comes into contact with the rare creator who knows his value (and stands up for it), that creator is usually turned down, rejected, and ghosted in favor of some peasant creator who will happily provide what the brand wants for nothing.
@Free_Ranger_CT1103 ай бұрын
I get your reasoning but calling other creators 'spineless thirsty peasants' is a bit harsh mate, you haven't put out a long form video for 2 years, what happened?
@theadventurebiker3 ай бұрын
@Free_Ranger_CT110 has it ever occurred to you that maybe, just maybe, someone could be very busy with multiple channels & accounts across multiple platforms, and that some of these accounts may take priority at one time or another over another?

I'm not monetized but its my passion and I'm hopeful I am helping children read better. I was recently emailed a contract from a well know video editor app that wants me to work with them. This is all very new to me and I definitely do not want to jeopardize my channel as its obviously geared towards a very small type of viewership.
