Clean water is one of the most important aspects to healthy living, and I like to make it as easy as possible when I'm in the wilderness, on canoe trips and backpacking trips. In this video I cover my preferred methods for filtering water while at camp and while on the go. The filters shown are the Platypus GravityWorks and the Katadyn BeFree.

While these filters will not filter out every possible thing that could be in your water (viruses, chemicals), they are more than adequate for many US/Canada watersheds (and I suspect many in other countries as well). Even if there is no known pollution in your water, bird and beaver poop could ruin your day (see: giardia). As such, I prefer to filter my water whether I'm hanging around the Twin Cities or whether I'm in the pristine wilderness of the Boundary Waters.
I hope this video helps you and saves you time so you have more time for camp life, fishing, paddling, and anything else the wilderness has in store for you!
Thanks for watching! If you have any questions, comments, or criticism, please don't hesitate to let me know in the comments!
