How To Get Diamond White Feathers For The Show Ring / Equestrian How To

Hey guys!
We get asked all the time how we get the boys feathers so white and fluffy. I remember the first time we went to a big horse show, I watched in awe as the other competitors unloaded their horses and every single one had the most magnificent full, fluffy, diamond white feathers. And ours were limp and stained. I remember watching them, trying to understand how they had done this, thinking there must be some secret, some amazing method for achieving this. The truth is there is no grand secret and no fancy pants tools or equipment, it's just soap and wood flour! In today's video I will talk you through my process for getting diamond white, gorgeous fluffy feathers for the show ring and you will see just how easy it is to turn out as good as a professional.

You don't have to use these particular products to get a good result. I have tried many different soaps and shampoos over the years, but this is by far my favorite. It's a very simple, non-toxic soap AND it just happens to leave the feathers in wonderful condition. Essential oils are 100% optional.

Tbh ... I have chalked tails before when I couldn't shift a stain 😂 but you do loose that silkiness and shine

PS what is woodflour? Is it really wood?

Yes, it's really wood. It's very fine sawdust with all the lumpy bit's filtered out 😊 The ones branded for this kind of use will generally have chalk mixed in as well which acts as a whitener. I remember back in the beginning when we had no clue what we were doing, we actually used baby powder on their feathers! That was not cheap I can tell you 🤣

@@raversmead Apparently baby powder is also a carcinogen, as per recent research. I haven't read the research, but heard it in the media.

@@cattymajiv yes, talc has been called out as carcinogenic in recent years. I used to use it when I was younger (cringe) I believe the issue lies with inhalation of the dust

Nope 😊 it stays on the feather and dries on, adding volume and a lovely crisp whiteness. All I do is give them a light brush in the morning and he's show ring ready. That's mind blowing to me that your watching from the Czech Republic!! ❤️

Can you tell lblue to behave, am lying on a sun lounger in Tenerife trying to impart the serious knowledge of how to get my feathers white and keep on wanting to scratch my bum on a nearby fence 😂🤣😂
