How to Get Easy Points and Assists : : NBA 2K16 Tutorial

Hope you guys found this tutorial on how to score and assist helpful, i have a few more tutorials for NBA 2K16 in the works. One that deals with how to steal and block, and another for scoring that i recently discovered. Just a note, pick and fade works brilliantly also. So if you have a good midrange or three point shooter (I'm on the Hawks so we shit them out) then you can do that as well. They tend to follow you round when you come off wide on the pick and then the roll/fade man just leaks out and has half the court to take a shot. Great video Ed.

+UltraGaming Oh shit good advice! I confess i rarely have used the fade option in 2K. I tried it out a couple times in 16, but was more focused on evaluating the roll and reverse. That hawks lineup sounds like a perfect use for it too!

Ah this was on PS4, not sure what your issue could be! I used to play on PS3 and never had that as an issue! Game could just be more buggy since next ten emerged and PS3/xbox 360 copies took a back seat during the development process. Have you tried tweeting their support account? It's surprisingly helpful!

yes absolutely. Assists come no easier than on fast breaks which only come about from good defence. And yep, playmaker is pretty self explanatory i guess. Athlete is more about getting points yourself, so don't worry about that if you just want assists!

+Jvohn McGhee right stick is hesitations, left stick moves your player. So i "hesitate" into the pick with the right stick, and then move the player around the other way with the left stick.

Every time I try to score points with the reverse pick and roll there is always the guy blocking the pick man who gets in the way of the basket. How do I get him to come and guard the pick man from the side, and not in front of him?

+Nikolas Von Essen I think you may be running round the screen to early, make sure you call the pick and wait a good few seconds after the screen has been set. If that screen man defender is then blocking you, it should mean your pick player is rolling to the basket unguarded, which allows for an easy assist.

I don't understand how sometimes when I set the pick, the pick man never stays in the position long enough for me to utilize the pick. As soon as I let go to move around it he just runs off and the play is useless. Any ideas or suggestions. +William targee Ah man no worries! I was being sarcastic anyway! My family still fuck me over for saying w's all the time, it's all good bro. I guess I would suggest hitting R1/R2 twice when the pick is being set (switching it from the left or right/switching it from a roll to a fade) so it sort of resets the invisible pick timer that 2K has set up, when the pick man is already right next to your defender. Let me know how it goes!

ah no worries man! So i should have said in the video, you only have access to those menus in game as the point guard, I'm assuming your my player isn't a point guard in that case. (Point guard is the player who carries the ball up the court more often than not, the playmaker) Stick with it tho! The more you learn the better the game becomes, it's a great basketball sim

I've been playing 2k15 for a while and my player was an 86 ovr PG with 90 jumpshot, and i averaged 35 ppg. Now that 2k16 is free, i've downloaded it and started mycareer. I upgraded my jumpshot to a 78 but still cant score open jumpshots. Is this normal for 2k16?

+Holden Rooker wait, sorry. Explain a little more for me, you go around the pick and the pick defender stays with the pick setter? Is that it? If that's the case then you should be getting an open lane to the basket overtime (since your defender has been caught in the animation and is now 4 feet behind you as you're running to the rim. If the pick defender stays with the pick setter, just shoot. If he comes across to you, then your big man should be open. Thats completely random towards what happens after the pick, but if you do it correctly, you always have the chance of either scoring or assisting. But again, there are some basket cases where (like in real life) they defend it properly and seal everything off. It doest happen too often, and since you have 24 seconds to run a play that take 6/7...you can just back up tp the 3 point line and try it all again. Be patient with it.

+Carter Hughes I'll be honest, i disagree mate. I absued the pick and roll/lob in 2k14 and 15, it was immense. But i find the % chance of successfully pulling off an alley-ooo in this game so much lower than before. Not only do players catch the ball less, but they rarely dunk. Remember, I'm speaking from playing with Roy Hibbert as my C, the only 7 footer who seemingly never dunks haha. Maybe it's a lot easier on other teams but i find it very difficult on the lakers.

+edpenn13 There is another way to call plays without being a PG but it will take longer Step 1. You MUST max out Playmaker Step 2. Max out either Inside or Outside scoring Doing those 2 will unlock the On Court Coach Badge and you can call plays, call for pass, and tell teammates to shoot whenever you want. It's a good badge to have you play MyCareer a lot

+Gavin C It's all about the timing of you pressing sprint and the animation that you're coming out of. Do a hesitation to a crossover and you'll notice a smoother animation man. Don't think of it as real life basketball, honestly think of it as a computer game with different animations being triggered, and just exploit them.
