you are kinda assuming everyone has "commander" status. I'd hardly call that "easy" seeing as there is a hell of a lot of grinding involved in getting to that point. I think the "easiest" way, or fastest way to get shards would be to get your logging skill up past 200, and then buy the materials needed to make wyrdwood and ironwood planks. Once you get past lvl 200, you get boxes that have orbs in them. You can make most of your money back again just selling those planks, so you can rinse and repeat without the need for more farming.

You are correct, this is how I did it when expertise was introduced. There is a minor, or was. for crafters, especially armorer you can craft cheap boots and gloves to get some bonuses every time you proc legendary.

Im in a server with 1,100 active players at peak hours. Finding a group for M1 is impossible. I have wasted so many hours with no luck. DD's will join but then I can never find a healer or tank. When will they add expedition matchmaking!!!!

I had like 7k shards and yesterday I hit my first 600 expertise with boots and then instantly wasted all 7 something k shards on it thinking it would be enough to hit 625 boy was I wrong. But this is really useful info, if I craft a boot cast every day that's like passively 2-3k shards every 10 days. big.
