For the liquid fertilizer you need to have an aerator to prevent it from going bad, also you delute it about 50/50 in a water can. Worm compost is also great. I have a worm bin and the soil is super fertile. Back when I was in CA all the avocado seeds I'd toss in it would sprout, sold starters and gave the rest to friends before I moved; took my worms with me.
