You know what's worse than being angry or raging? Feeling nothing at all. It may not seem like it at times, but feeling anger and rage can be a good thing. It means you're still trying... still pushing yourself or something in some way. Obviously it can be used for bad things as well, so I wanted to make this video in hope that people can start using it to improve their lives rather than destroy them.
Maybe this will save a few keyboards or mice too. As a tech reviewer, I always cringe when I hear someone broke one.
Please leave your equipment alone. :D

Things like that are probably why the Jedi need to end... can't dismiss an entire group of emotions just because you want to feel peace 100% of the time. Better to make use of all of them imo.

Dam dude, you outdid your self with this video. My entire child hood i was put into all sorts of places because of my anger issues. I was taught for years that anger was bad and to suppress it entirely. Now i no longer feel anger which i thought was a good thing, However I have massive problem with lacking any drive and passion to do anything. I remember having so much energy back then and i always wondered what happend to it. Now i think i might know. Thank you for this video.

I went through something similar , until it transformed into constant panic attacks and anxiety. that's when I had to get some counseling sessions with a psychiatrist who helped me change many of my perspectives , and deal with it. When it comes to emotions he always told me not to suppress anything. if we swallow emotion , it stays there. emotions are like thousands of tiny mental constructions (thoughts) that get into our subconscious. they are there in the same way as we know how to ride a bike. like burnt in little thoughts. So we need to put it out, bring it out in the physical world. if we don't, it comes out by itself when we less want, when we less expect, like suddenly going berserk when someone asks for something futile, or simply by physical nervous compulsions / nervous twitches and stuff like that. Theres only one trick tho, one way or another the mind doesn't separate how we let those emotions out, its all the same when it comes to our brain. so we may choose. if we are in a meeting and someone says something we don't like about a specific topic , and we go crazy mad and start screaming like animals, the mind releases that emotion, and we chill. but if we choose a moment get a pillow , and we fuck the shit out of that pillow with all our emotion (rage in this case) until we get exhausted, the mind is also satisfied. the same release was possible , and we chill. even tho those varie in terms of "relief degree" , they allow us to keep it stable , while we do our homework of understanding why those emotions are there, and "debunk" them. we have to think why we feel it (what thoughts make us feel those emotions) , and rationally see why they shouldn't affect us that much, or in many cases, aren't even logical and we just never questioned it deep enough! if we do that, while choosing when to get our anger releases , the path is open again. the more we understand , the less powerful those emotions become. the more we choose when to release those emotions in ways that don't harm anyone or shame us , the less reasons we have to feel them, and the clearer our mind becomes to understand them. its a big snowball when its going down....but its also a big positive avalanche of positive chain reactions when we get the trick. suddenly our acts are helping our mind and self confidence, and our mind and self confidence our acts ;d when it comes to games its easy. turn that anger into determination. sorry for the huge text, I cant speak about this topics without saying it all. this ideas helped me a lot and still do :P

I must say, you've given me far better advice than my parents or ANY psychiatrist/counsellor I've ever had in life with your "get good" series. And fuck me this video hit home, I am JUST like that angry -> depressed guy you spoke of in the video: I went from fighting my chronic illness (GERD/ibs/ibs/whateveritFUCKINGis for 4 & 1/2 years now for the curious, dysfunctional bladder too for like 3 years having poor sleep on a regular because of it) and wanting to push for a better life to...a jaded, emotionless, despondent wreck who's just accepted defeat as it's happened SO many times to me I'm like "what's the point? There'll always be some stupid trolling from life to sabotage my good efforts!" Even state doctors (i.e. the NHS) have just given up on me now, it's ridiculous and I'll never have the money for private ones who WILL fix me properly. That was the straw that broke the camel's back to be honest mate, seeing THEM give up made me want to fully give up on myself too given all I'd been through. Losing your job and being forced to move back in with your mother at the age of 26 thanks to said illness was reason enough to try and end my life, at times I wish I had succeeded (there's a lot of messed up shit that happened, like being framed and chucked out of uni, being technically homeless for 4 months son I went through HELL and I'm STILL here!!! Makes me feel like fucking Doomguy at times haha!). I'm 28 now and feel like a fucking has-been compared to who I was before, from one of the best C# programmers in my class at uni and cardio/parkour enthusiast to someone who can barely run a mile thanks to bad ankles and someone who doesn't study/push himself as hard as he used to. Sure, my strength's improved and I can fingertip pressup on CONCRETE without a lotta effort (took so many weeks of training to nail the precursor steps), but I feel like I've lost my way, I've lost who I was. These kind of videos give me hope though, without them I'd feel lost like the guy you mentioned Zy. It's a nice reminder that NOT everyone is an arsehole, there's good people out there. Like yourself. Keep up the great content, it's nice to hear an outside perspective from someone who isn't bound to protocol/bureaucracy like medical professionals on how to level up in life. Take care and peace.

My friends always tell me that I am a quick learner, especially when it comes to gaming. They ask me how I am always calm and collected when I get outplayed or totally destroyed. Truth is I am pissed because I am a very competitive person. But somehow I unconsciously channel those emotions into motivation rather than being physical. I never actually thought about this being a "drive" until now, and I gotta say it to you, Zy, keep it up with these videos. You are amazing.

anger exists naturally so that you're able to defend yourself if a hyena bites a lion, the lion gets mad, it kills the hyena. a lion without the ability to feel anger would feel sad, or scared. it would never attack the hyena, and the hyena would kill the lion without a fight. it's natural to feel anger in a game when you're losing, because competitive games are just simulated fights.

I get angry pretty fast when I'm losing, but there's a few rock hard rules I established for myself that I never break: 1. Never directly yell at someone. I may yell what I wanna say to the other person (no matter if teammate or opponent) at the screen, but always with Push-to-talk off. And if you need to vent it out in chat or comms, always blame a mechanic or lag or whatever, even if everybody knows that's not the reason at least you got to let it out and nobody got hurt. 2. Never Ragequit. The reason you rage is (probably) because you care about winning. Ragequitting makes you lose. You're defeating your own point and should probably be more mad at that button press than at the game before it because there still was some tiny chance to win the latter. 3. Unless you're under time pressure, keep playing until you're in a somewhat good mood again. Be that through a win or an honestly exciting and fair loss. In the back of my mind I fear that if I quit after a bad match I will be less likely to boot the game up again the next day because I'll subconsciously assume it isn't fun. Also this way you don't carry your anger into real life. They sound pretty basic but it can get REALLY hard to always follow them. Do other people have similar stuff?

thank you for being the first person to every let me know my anger is ok. My whole life ive been told I have anger issues. But I only ever get angry when I have to defend myself. It was not my fault I got put into situations where people hurt me for fun. But when I get mad, its me thats wrong. Anyone who tells you that anger or rage is wrong, are pretty much bullies, or trolls, and enjoy controlling situations by "I never have to be right, all I gotta do is make the other person mad, then focus on their anger making them even madder!" Your right. Rage, or ANGER is the number one thing that makes a person change their life, make change for others, or start something that changes everything. You think anyone who was not raging or angry would protest? Politicians usually become what they are because they are angry at how the system is and want to change it. People become police officers because they are angry at how society is and want to change it. People in charge want everyone to be afraid of anger, they want everyone with no drive, motivation or want to change

i never comment on videos, but i just wanna say yeah it’s an effective motivator. and at the same time it’s a complete hindrance. when it’s all said and done you’re more right than me since having emotions is linked with being human, but imagine if you didn’t feel their pull. if someone was trying to hurt your family, you wouldn’t even care, and that’s the end of that. if you had no aspirations, it wouldn’t matter because you simply don’t care. seems easygoing. if we’re all animals with emotions, then we’re bound to compete to get what we want. it’s like gods threw us into a cage match against each other and look down on us. we can’t do anything besides stay true to our instincts in this situation, so we feel pain over and over again hoping to taste true victory until we fail and we’re ultimately gone. and when i say fail, i mean that once you satisfy one urge, another one resurfaces no matter how accomplished you are. what’s wrong with trying to transcend that? even if we can’t, at least minimizing it. aspirations might be necessary but having them won’t ever stop you from being hurt.

Zy I am going to try and catch you on stream and thank you personally for making this video. I am guitarist of all styles, former athlete, and massive fps fan/improving player. Music was my life, I almost have a degree in it, but self directed anger has sapped my enjoyment while practicing new and challenging things. If you bottle the rage, depression will follow as it has in my life. With rage there is intense passion and caring. I am learning to harness that potential energy for good instead of self destruction. Thank you for the inspiration.

I get mad when gaming sometimes just like anyone else. But one thing that's changed for me is how I channel my anger. I used to play on a shitty membrane keyboard and a cheap mouse, so I'd give one or the other a good smack when I got pissed. I realized how stupid I probably look when I do so, so I got myself a nice g810 and g502 so that hitting my peripherals wouldn't be an option. I was able to immediately quit taking out my rage on my m&k, and that helped me use my anger to fight like you said. Now, when I meet a griefer im GTAO or something, I use that rush of anger to start a 1v1. Regardless of if I win or lose, I'll tell my opponent "hey you're pretty good at sniping, gg" or something and nine times out of ten, they'll be like "ay thanks." That feels pretty good, and I find myself enjoying games more.

Anger has been something I managed to succeed with and only really comes out in video games, other than that I'm totally calm and rarely when I do enter "rage mode" I strangely do REALLY good within that burst of feeling and my aim, reaction time and game sense are that much better than what they normally are.

Hey Zy, I have recently started to get into Quake Champions with no prior experience in a Quake game before so I was wondering if there is any advice you could give to a noob like me other than what you have said in previous videos to help me not get stomped into the ground constantly? Any advice at all would be appreciated, keep up the good work on the channel man.

Anger can cloud judgement and encourages tunnel vision on one thing rather than seeing the big picture. I agree anger can be a driving mechanism and in a real fight may give a person more adrenaline and or power, but sometimes it can lead to making poor decisions that can lead to your downfall.

Tilt the bottle sideways 45 degrees. Much of the energy in the bubbles will be dissipated on the sides leading to far less violent expansion when they hit the surface allowing you to open the cap quickly.

The bottle example was the most accurate thing you could've showed.

I've always had issue with someone getting angry at me and my aim becomes complete garbage and I start getting shaky, this may be a bit of a different topic but when dealing with rage from my team I can't find a way to just ignore the person who keeps calling me out on a team or at least consciously .

I focus my rage into observation, observing is just doing everything you would normally, but *closely* . Figure out what you believe needs improvement, and continue to improve. If don't see a problem with what you are doing and you still lose, think of something more, something that can help you improve in some type of way. *Observe* .

This is true not only in gaming but in live overall. Bottled up emotions are far worst. We are i the age where being aggressive, competitive etc are deemed to be toxic and we all should be touchy feely all the time. It's BS Great vid Zy.

You missed the point of the video, because Zy himself said that being aggressive and using your anger in a way that's deemed toxic is 'destructive'. We shouldn't be touchy-feely all the time, but we should be considerate and leave anger to where it belongs.

HEY ZY I know this is the wrong video but why do you always recommend the Zowie FK/ZA over for example the DM1 Pro (Sensei)? The latter clearly has better Buttons and Sensor and I also think the shape is better (medium/large hands (fk1 fk1+)) I think the curves on the sides are deeper, which is a lot better for claw/finger tip and that is what the fk series aims for... I understand that the fk2 is smaller and might be better for small hands, but for medium/large = DM1 Pro/Sensei!!! :) ???

I rage a LOT in games, and basically a lot of the issues that you brought up in this video. How do you go about changing it from destructive to constructive and some methods of progressing to that point?
