As a film student i am always trying to learn something new,, with so many videos out there that are less than par it is easy to get lost and frustrated. your two videos have helped me tremendously with my d5100 settings there are too many videos with over dubbed music which is so annoying and long intros that i personally dont give a shit about. Your video is straight to the point and i applaud you for that. THANKS!

I watched this video and appreciate your working knowledge of the DSLR for video. You are head and shoulders above the rest of the amateur crowd. What made me want to comment, however, was watching "Unforgettable" on your channel. Your technical camera and editing skills combine with your artistic skills to make video stories that are worth watching. Thanks from a professional still photographer

Wow, thanks Harvey. I appreciate the very kind words. I don't see myself as head and shoulders above the rest. I don't use grey cards, green screens, or any Adobe programs, so I'm destined to remain an amateur buried in obscurity, lol. I suppose we really are our own worst critic! I just like to keep things somewhat simple, and I'm happy with that. Thanks again, and I'm glad you enjoy my videos!

We actually planned a trip up there for November but could not find a good place to stay (we travel with relatives in their motor home and have specific requirements) but we will be getting up there at some point. The kit lens works exceptionally well. The key is post-production editing; specifically color grading/correcting. I would also suggest purchasing the 35mm f1.8 over the 50mm for a crop sensor DSLR such as the D5100. Good luck!

Thanks for the quick response bro! Yes I too believe that the D5100 has less aliasing problems than the T3i. And as you showed in your video the censor inside the D5100 has a great dynamic range, just look at what you can pull out of those shadows! Truly amazing! I'm busy making a video for a friend of my who runs a barbershop and so far I'm really happy with the video quality that the D5100 delivers using these F1.8 Nikon lenses.

The Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 is my favorite lens. I even used it to make this tutorial. It would be perfect for a concert because it performs well in low light, and will capture most of the action. You could probably even get the entire stage in the shot in the front row!
