get your artisans to produce machine parts. beeline the tech that unlocks machine parts. and keep taxes on the middle class low i guess. the machine parts made by artisans should be enough to kickstart a machine parts factory and then proceed to industrialize from there

AI geniunely does something like that for half of the game. For minor it's impossible to buy machine parts until like 1870s.

Honestly tried it in single player, and found out the ai doesnt actually industrialise on anywhere near the scale or speed players do. So the world economy ticked on fine, despite me having the money to buy all the machine parts, iron, steel, coal, and well everything in the game. The ai just preceded to build navies without clipper ships being on the market for example. They just dont use enough for there to be a limited enough supply for the player to buy up
