Heres my opinion tho, why is it an entry level candidate applying for an entry level position would have competition with someone of years of experience?!? Heres my analogy…and how im viewing it. You have 2 people in the gym, person A is newly signed up and wants to get in shape and person B has 5 years of physical fitness experience and has already established muscle and strength. Senario-- Theres a light set of dumbbells and a heavy set of dumbbells available. Person B takes the light dumbbells and now Person A doesn’t have anything to use to gain muscle, and can’t qualify to use the heavy dumbbells because lack of experience, and now Person A is stuck with no training/ experience. Person B should stay in their lane , use the heavy set and let Person A use the lighter set so they can have an opportunity to grow and experience If you read this far, thank you for understanding, because im Person A trying to break into IT with no experience.

Aww, that was you. I felt like I should have replied to your comment, but I couldn't think of something helpful other than "thanks".

This is absolute genius and makes PERFECT SENSE. People can get a sense of who you are that wouldn't come across in a cover letter or resume. I need to sort of "start over" because I had to drop out of the workplace to take care of a family member, so I'm really behind and really rusty tech-wise. This is a HUGE help in terms of a great way to add a bunch of "me" that I wouldn't be able to otherwise. Hopefully it'll outshine the huge gap in my resume at least a little. I don't know whether to get a current cert or what, but this is SOLID. THANK YOU!!

Awesome information, direction and motivation to continue moving forward toward my goal (a career in I.T.). I appreciate quite a few of your videos, but this one really connected with where I am currently at. You helped to clarify (or maybe remind me) where I need to be as well as an important part of what I can do to move in that direction. I appreciate your efforts to help! 👍 I look forward to future content.

Some employers are gluttons. They do not care about their employees. With remote work, you get healthier employees who work 2x harder. I am for remote work.

As a veteran that's been working in various roles on and off in IT for over 20 years, I can honestly tell you that nowadays that a Computer Science or even Cybersecurity college degree ALONE will NOT generally land you an entry level IT job, even this Google IT cert mentioned here is NOT enough. You COULD land an entry lev Help Desk role IF you have a personal connection their through school, friends or family but that's the exception. Post pandemic, tech related college degrees have become overrated and do NOT carry the same weight that once did anymore, NOT saying their worthless but not really as valuable. A BS in Computer Science gains MORE value when paired with say 1-3 years IT exp and recent A+ cert. For a newbie or a career changer with little or no IT experience, it's ONLY going to come down to EXPERIENCE IS KING and entry level IT certs like CompTIA A+ or Net+ following close behind as this is what you'll need to land that first entry level Help Desk job. The HARDEST part for those new to IT is interviewing for and landing that first IT Support (Help Desk or Desktop Support) job. And please do NOT jump on the newbie Cybersecurity bandwagon WITHOUT at least 1 to 3 years IT experience and at least one or two entry level IT certs! You need to understand what a network is and how it works BEFORE you can secure it, right? You need to understand how a PC works together with all its components, its Operating System, various apps and the connection to the Internet BEFORE you can secure it and prevent attacks, right? You see where I'm going with this... Learn the IT fundamentals first, get SOME experience and THEN consider a low level Cybersecurity role after maybe 3 to 5 years IN.

Great info pointing to good LinkedIn follows. I'm hoping having more people to follow on there allows me to spend a little more time on LinkedIn rather than other social media. I think LinkedIn will be a much more positive environment.
