So I have my A+ and am working on my Net+. I ended up making a virtual lab with a server 2016 and learning how to make a domain, seeing group policy, managing users and groups, and in the past I've done some hardware upgrades to laptops and then built my pc now. With all of that when I had an interview I told then I'm new and have no enterprise experience but this is what ive done and am doing on my own and I want to learn. Be honest about being new. I start in less than 2 weeks for help desk. Also looking good dude congrats

I have a liberal arts degree and am currently studying for the a+ and CCNA. I spent a few months in a call center for insurance, spent a few months in sales for a cellular provider. I have a LOT of interview requests. Still going through them now and don’t have an “end” answer but, from what I’m understanding from this process is that your best bet, as an entry level soon-to-be IT professional, is to look for contracts or other short-term opportunities. That seems to be where the industry really looks for actual entry-level. Had an interview with the contractor today, and I’m currently lining one up with the contractee. These will especially be perfect for you if you’re currently in school as you know exactly how long you’re committed to that organization for and can plan accordingly.

Soft skills are so important. I love technology, networking, servers. I could learn all the info and get all the certs out there but I can't even do a simple helpdesk job because I can't deal with people due to being on the spectrum. You go to an interview and constantly feel over and over that people don't want you in their team. Being a noc engineer or something, in a server room of a data center dealing with devices would fit me so well, but to get there you need to amass several years of experience from somewhere. And with my soft skills, or complete lack of, I could onky amass several years of being a janitor or I dunno. I'm now working with azure and service now tickets but I'm not an admin and the only reason they even hired me in the first place is to communicate with other admins across the world in our company because no one else here speaks English at all, lol. I feel such a strong impostor syndrome and can't even properly do what they want. Dread every dya going there but I wanna keep engaging in the technology. Ugh..

I want to make a career change and go into Cybersecurity, but I have no knowledge of IT. I work as a technical support specialist but that’s it. I decided to start with learning on Coursera and learn the basics and study and get the COMPTIA A+, and COMPTIA Network +, and start as IT support. Get good experience for a year or two and then get the COMPTIA Security +, CYSA+ and go in to cybersecurity. I’ve also though of going back to college and get a IT degree, or take the cybersecurity program at ucf. Not sure which route to take as far as education but that’s what I’m thinking of doing. If anyone has any advise on here please tell me. Much appreciated!!

Whats more valuable to a employer a associates degree or a+. I am wanting to do desktop support. Any tips on how to get past the phone interview? That is about the furthest I have gotten in the interview process. Does that mean my resume is good enough? Is the reason I can't get move forward to the next steps because something I said and how I answered their questions. The phone interview is really stressful for me and I wish I could just skip to the in person interview as I am afraid they are judging me without taking a chance to get to know me first.

A+, but if you can get some other train with it like ITIL. Interviews..... I suggest be confident. I want the job you have to snatch it out of their hand. If you don't know the answer just say you don't know. Don't lie in a Interview. Do not talk money until they bring it up and have a range of 6k. Do research on the company before the interview, they like that shit. That's it.

I've never been asked nor have I asked folks I was interviewing. There is typically a face to face aspect of an interview be it in person or video call. The truth about I.T. jobs, they are the new blue-collar jobs. You are often put on salary, and work long hours, holidays, weekends, and nights after working all day. You are asked to complete projects not based off of anything but fiscal quarters. You never get away from your job, as you're on call 24/7 365. Management doesn't care about the 1000 things you got right but the few things that slipped through the cracks, mainly due to being overworked and unrealistic deadlines. C.I.O.s often go against your recommendations and when things go as you said they would, they blame you.
