Hi, you know, I'm 5 weeks in after a full knee replacement and everything you described here is exactly how I found it to be. The loss of function of the quads and the discomfort of the tourniquet that felt like a massive dead-leg after being kicked by a horse. The leg-lifter strap was really useful both for getting into and out of bed, and helping to start the knee-bending exercise before my leg started to work again. I'm certain that gathering these bits of equipment before going in for the operation paid off handsomely once I got home. I'm now walking stick free, pain free, and working on regaining my stamina and knee strength by daily short walks and concentrating on my posture after years of limping and favouring my bad knee. Keep up the good work. Geoff 🇬🇧

Love these videos, so practical, leg lifter now ordered in preparation for September surgery, ps your cat is gorgeous hilarious how she looks like she’s listening to every word and wants to help with the demo 😁 I might need to hire her as a personal coach! Her air ticket to Scotland is on its way 😂 🥰🏴🇬🇧

She likes to be in my videos 😂 fun fact: she hates when I talk and sometimes shell meow very loud to tell me “stop talking!!”

I used a belt then an exercise band. It stopped that awful jolt of pain when the knee bends suddenly and am certain it reduced the swelling.

Glad the cat was there. That's exactly where my dog will be as I'm getting into bed!

Hi, I am three days postop. I was in a bad motorcycle accident five months ago and I woke up with CRPS in my foot same foot as I had the knee replacement. I’m so afraid I won’t be able to do enough of the walking exercises due to CRPS and foot drop Can do all the bed exercises I just can’t walk without crutches and limits. I have foot drop so I can’t really do a walk. Any thoughts on that? Will I be OK just doing the bed exercises.

What I do is take my non-surgical leg and put the foot under the other foot (surgical side) and use my good leg to lift up the surgical leg. This works much quicker than having to get the band set up.

Mw too. Use good leg to lift " operated" leg. Had first knee 5 years ago , now 10 days since replacement on the other knee. Can walk without aids around room , but still use single elbow crutch for distance walks. Getting increased bend slowly.

I love that gadget. I had a knee brace so I would hold on to the straps and lift my leg. Lol 😂. It worked.

That device does not lift straight up when self-administered. Instead, the angle of one's own arm pulls the lower leg toward the body and that really, really hurts. The best straight-up lift I found was the husband. Mine is physically impaired and not very strong or coordinated. One time, he lifted the leg onto the bed, then lifted it onto the pillow, then slipped and dropped it back onto the bed. We both yelled. When the pain went away, we started laughting that he also yelled as though it had hurt him. I soon figured a way to do this without help. Facing the bed, stand on a short stool with both feet. Lift the good knee onto the bed as though crawling into the bed, lean forward and then roll onto your nonoperative side and gently let the operative leg follow up over yourself and down onto the bed or pillow. The resulting sideways movement with the operative leg does not hurt at all compared to the forward lift with those damaged quads of the operative leg. I am almost four months out from right TKR and scheduled to have the left one done in June..... This is work.

I have so much pain getting in and out of bed. I lift the leg with a lifter and its very, very painful
I really enjoy your professionalism and advise. However, I am curious if your cat - is a Maine Coon cat? It appears to be a very large cat. Just curious.
