I got into ADV OU watching your vids.. I built my first team out of memory in a few minutes and it turned out to be a BIG V TSS, but with Dug and Aero.. I didn't know nothing about the metagame outside of watching JimCool and BKC. I can recommend these 2 channels to any newcomer!:)

As a newcomer to the ADV low ladder, I find myself often being utterly crushed by baton pass shenanigans with Ninjasks and Marowaks etc. And I am unsure what my answers are, especially on more offensive teams lacking whirlwind, roar, and tough walls. Happy to hear anyone’s commentary

No mention of Banded Mixed Hustle Delibird. None. You can't justify that. You can't, you won't. Don't try. I appreciate the effort, but you're blatantly wrong and Smogon is wrong. Mixed Hustle Banded Delibird is a massive, unpredictable threat in this meta, and everyone I've beaten agrees. Present makes switches risky propositions while HP Ice can OHKO the standard switch, Salamence, 75% of the time. Focus Punch is there for Tar. You even spike up against DD Articuno and Bullet Seed Breloom. It also gets to switch in on Refresh from CB Swampert, and if the Swamp stays in for fear of Present rolls, you can start Spiking or charging up a nasty Sky Attack (though that set mostly died out once CM Beedrill popped up because that runs HP Rock). Gross is a check, sure, but good luck switching into multiple mud slaps. Once again, I appreciate the effort. But I read your viability charts and you're TOTALLY off. Sorry.

Is there a public ADV discord server that could be joined? Forum posts are good for getting a general sense of everything, but having or looking at conversations with respected players helps fill in the blanks immensely. It would also be less clunky for questions than the SQSA thread. You definitely weren't kidding about the quantity and quality of the resources currently available, I've been trying to learn ADV for the past few weeks and I recently needed to take a break for a few days since I got headaches whenever I tried to think about mons... turns out reading vapicuno's thread in the span of three days wasn't enough pacing. raikou gets outsped and destroyed by dugtrio, whereas jolteon doesn't. outspeeding, not tying, starmie is amazing as well, as is outrunning +1 ddtar and adamant gyarados.

I know it’s kinda a complicated topic so it’ll be harder to respond to concisely but whatever you can offer is appreciated :)

you'll have to your opponent's ddmence counters to switch in by using pokemon that are also countered by them - ttar and metagross are both checked by swampert. from there, you have to find a way to reliably get the damage you need on it. so, hp grass ttar, possibly hpgrass meta or you can just blow up on it. that's a simple version but does it make sense?

BKC kinda, I’m thinking more along the lines of like knowing what that team style would use to counter certain mons and how to play around those cores. It’s probably just more something that you have to learn from experience though

stall is going to have several ddmence checks: tss is likely to have skarm, bliss, pert, and maybe even gengar, while for sandless it could be skarm, bliss, cune (pivot), dol (one-time boom). dealing with three or four checks might be a bit much for ddmence, so depending on the course of the game, you either successfully remove them, or more often than not, remove other mons that set up something like a zapdos sweep instead. importantly, when using a mixed offense team, one shouldn't be hell-bent on setting up the ddmence sweep, but to recognize that there are several fluid ways to construct an endgame, depending on what metagross booms on, what offpert trades for etc. this is quite unlike spikes teams, where the goal is almost universally to rack up enough spikes damage and always clean with the 6th.

back in the day gen 3 was referred to as the advanced generation (probably because it was played on the gameboy advance). plus, it's a lot more than just ruby/sapphire/emerald - firered and leafgreen and even colosseum and XD are part of the metagame, so it's easier to just say adv

i just got into competitive about a week ago, and literally everyone just runs a variation of the same TSS blissey and switches in and out. they will literally do this for 100 moves for a win, literally just do chip an status damage with infinite switching if you don't know / have a team built specifically to counter this stupid strat. its toxic, pun intended.
