I use KZbin videos to get motivated. I’m a chronically I’ll woman who was forced ten years ago to give up my successful real estate career, and retire on disability. My world is full of pain. The routine is so hard to change, to add variety to. I love watching your videos. They really me that it’s ok to lead a slow life. My previous life was at two hundred miles an hour. Balance in life has always evaded me. I told myself when I was working that if I didn’t have to work I would not own a cell phone. And for eight years I didn’t. The world doesn’t understand when you don’t have a cell phone. Even today my doctor gave me a blank stare when I told her I only have a landline. I guess the referring doctors like to text you. I’m rambling… but it’s an honor to meet you, and to sharing your life with you. Tammy

Hey. I'm 24 y/o a doctor from India. I stumbled upon your videos last year when I was trying to change my life around and it helped me tremendously. I absolutely adore you and the fact that you're so humble and also keep your KZbin channel low key and lead such a minimal lifestyle, all so commendable. You help me so much with your videos whenever I'm down. Much love.

I love when you said we’re always thinking about where we are going and not where we are currently! I needed to hear that . Im still new in this KZbin journey and I constantly get caught up with where i want to be and find myself unsatisfied with where I’m at..thus leading to lack of motivation. But ive found in my situation that gratefulness is the answer. I ground myself and remain grateful for the opportunity to go on this journey in the first place. Grateful that i have the creativity and the confidence to continue. 😌 and extremely grateful for the current supporters in my life

Hi Sophie, thanks again for another comforting video. My husband and I are older and we live where masks are not used as much and social distancing is not practiced as much as we are comfortable with, so we stay home for days on end without leaving the house. So to keep cabin fever at bay we have days where we dress up more at home. If I'm not doing heavy cleaning and my husband is not home improving we wear nice outfits. We don't get dressed as though we are going to a wedding but we use our good things. (True all my pretty shoes and purses feel neglected. And as an aside, I realize I don't ever need to buy another purse again!) On the dinner table we have candles, real napkins, our good china and like you we don't have a TV, so at meals we play nice music. Since we haven't eaten out since March, I feel okay with spending more on groceries, we treat ourselves to more expensive cheeses or bougie ice cream and other faves. Ruts are inner calls for some change I think: try a new coffee, wear something a different way. One little change can creat a paradigm shift and it might trigger us to notice something different and cause us to realize what we could do differently that could creat an improvement or some excitement.
@MalamaLife

You said it so beautifully. Also, you gave me so many great ideas! I think playing music and having the candles lit during dinner will make the whole experience feel like dining out 😊, but even better because it's in the comfort of our homes. Also, I am trying out a new coffee creamer and it is definitely brining new excitement back into my mornings. I loved hearing how you and your husband enjoying life at the moment 😊 thank you so much for sharing.

I think Sophie that people want security in their lives, meaning safety and comfort. To gain security people settle into routines. The trouble is there is a trade-off we have to pay for this and that is falling into a rut where we are not challenged. As humans, we also seek adventure and risk, and to gain that you generally have to break with your routines. Your topic is very relevant to today's social climate as the Governments (or A.I) are trying to negate people's health risks.
@MalamaLife

Such a interesting thought John! It sounded like you were describing my exact situation. Of course, I fell too deep into my routine which made it seem uninteresting and monotonous. I don't know what the healthy balance of routine and adventure looks like for me yet, but making videos have helped me to gain better insight. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment

I decided to push my chips to the center of the table and write an ebook. And then another ebook. I realized I had a lot on my mind when I wrote a 3,000 word guide in 1 and a half hours and it turned out great. I have two websites and both have been doing so so. So I took up food delivery to clear my mind and try a new a side gig so I could clear my mind and find the urge to write again from more of a soul level instead of a have to do it level. Thanks for making these videos, they are a great reminder of how enjoyable the slow life can be. These grocery delivery gigs are giving me the inner patience to be calm and still and unfazed even in a less than ideal, hectic situation. I hope some day to live in a house like you near the ocean and or forest and to live a simple life like this. Thanks again!

This video is timely. Early March was the last time I saw my team or attended a major event. In my workflow, events routinely pepper my calendar; now there is nothing except Zoom meetings, which are pretty good---and will continue long after we emerge on the other side of the curve.. I have been systematically de-cluttering even before the pandemic---and that has been good, now could be a good time to add a nuance or two for a little variety. Thanks for posting this thoughtful and beautiful video. 🙏

Don't get me wrong I do at times buy things for the sake of it. I have waisted 1000s over the years. I tend to buy something that has an emotional attachment to it and this kind of buying is not good for me. It is interesting watching this video and your last one about the Beauty of a normal life, and watching your growth. You maybe were here one year ago tired of the same routine inside your home and now you learned the beauty of that routine, and starting to be even more grateful for that everyday routine. This transition is happening to me recently as well, and definitely I have realized my favorite joyful moments and more peaceful are inside my home lying on my balcony with my dogs or family watching the clouds or the sunset with a cup of tea. Thanks to your videos I got inspired to learn how edit videos, and I am working in my 2nd video thanks the motivation you give me. Hope your Spanish now is better lol. Wow, this is so relatable. This is exactly how I feel. On one hand I do quite like the routine, but on the other one it´s also pretty frustrating. My country isn´t dealing with Covid well, so we are in lockdown. Most of my days consist of on-line classes and working on my assignments. The weather is cold, so not much to do outside. I do believe I have to find some sort of adventure, something that makes our day different, however small it is...

Nice video Sophie!! Your comments really hit home! I think this year has been challenging to stay out of a rut for everyone!! Even though I am shy at times, like you, I’m trying to brush up on my Spanish for my Spanish speaking friends on IG. I’m also learning bits of Italian and German for the same reason! It’s going slowly but it feels good to make some progress. Another way to get out of a rut is to get involved and help other people My neighbors husband was in the hospital for about three weeks. When I found that out I organized a couple of other people in the neighborhood to help by mowing her lawn. She said I didn’t have to, but I knew she was busy at work and then going to and fro from the hospital. Another thing I did was I put a Biden/Harris sign on our front lawn. Being an ambivert, I normally don’t do this, but I thought it was especially important this year to state how we felt to my neighbors. Surprisingly, I met a lot of neighbors that I didn’t really even know that well, who felt the same way we did!
@MalamaLife

That is incredibly sweet of you to help out your neighbor Mark! I definitely wish I had this relationship with my neighbors : ) maybe it's time for me to take the initiative. I always appreciate your comments.

Malama Life Thank you for nice comments Sophie! I appreciate it!! It definitely feels good to help others out when you can. :) I know it can take awhile to get to know neighbors. You can always help by donating food to your local food pantry or school supplies to needy kids. As rough as I think my life is going, when I talk with others, I realize they’re going through tough times too, often worse. So I look for ways to help. :))

I really like the 3 buckets. I think it's always important to re-evaluate and reflect when it comes to our contributions to the buckets. This also reminds me of the book, Essentialism by Greg McKeown. You can focus on a few essentials, but you've built in specific time "outside of routine" to do and try different things...explore. And that can help us get out of our...rut. Great video Sophie! I like your style of video. You must be using interesting filter settings or color grading to create that cinematic look!

I love that book and feel like I learn something new every single time I read it. Yes definitely exploring outside of my routine (my comfort zone) brought me a fresh new prespective! My husband just gifted me a ND filter for those very sunny outdoor shots :) It helps in making it look cinematic. I love that you noticed! thank you Alex.

@@MalamaLife Ah, an ND filter, that's awesome. Yes, I'm constantly trying to achieve the cinematic look, at least in some ways. Yeah, Essentialism is such a fast read, it's nice to revisit it frequently to remember the main points.

Thanks for the inspiration. I love your Chanel.a lot. We as Muslims believe that we are created to worship God and worship includes everything you mentioned & more.however, the most important is to get to know our Creator first in order to be able worship Him out of love so we can live a purposeful life. I invite you to explore Islam and why is it the fast growing religion despite all of the misconceptions about it & why most of the converts to Islam are women. Hope you find some gems that will transform your life.

Soothing voice and simple but pleasant appearance makes u perfect one for the channel at least according to the content. If possible add travel blog, explore the place u live. Looking beautiful is good but that does not effect ur work as ur content is not about beauty tips. Remember physical beauty is temporary it passes with time but good deeds, perfection in work builds reputation that remains even after death. God give u a long and healthy life.
