My fear in sparring was getting hit/badly injured. I started when I was 8 and now I'm 18, my sensei made me sparr against higher belts/people with more experience than me. I always used to get hit badly but I always tried to block the hits. One of the injuries was a broken leg and a dislocated shoulder, this all happened when I was around 9 so I was terrified to continue but I did, I managed to get through my fear so to others, don't give up

@@raymondaviles8921 Mmm, I cannot give you good advice, but what I do is thinking "this is what you are here for", literally forget you fear and focus on what you will do, also improving speed and arm defense. I think you have to trust your skills and know that if you get hurt you won't die. Sorry I can't give you better advice.

@@lovicatuwu6383 was afraid even since I get into karate, im afraid pf sparring thats why i stopped and get back again And then I tried sparring I was hitted so hard on my boobs that leaves me mini trauma 😂 But the truth is I joined karate so I'll be strong. I consider myself weak and my family, someone I know really takes care of me Doesnt want me to go any danger so I grew up being scaredy cat My unclw told me I have potential especially Im tall my legs are long I need to use it to attack but I cant im afraid 😢

Thank you so much for this video! Sometimes I’m in my head too much for sparring and overthinking and fear are two of my most crippling things in a match. This has been a huge help thank you again

At first I loved sparring, then I suffered two extremely painful rib injuries, and now I dread sparring. The injuries were so annoying because they each took 2 months to heal, and during that time I couldn't really train, stretch, or do much of any physical activity. Even trying to sleep was a nightmare. I just can't have that happen again.

Thank u for making thing video! It really helped me to c that I’m not the only one who’s scared about sparring. I think my main thing is that I fear getting hurt or hurting someone else and the fact that ppl r watching me do it. I never used to fear ppl watching me do stuff like sports when I was a kid but I fear it now a little. But I’ll definitely b following ur steps to help me get over the fear hopefully!!

Me? I was a yellow tag when I had my first sparring match. I couldn't even kick to the hogu. However, I just went for it. I was full of fear and I did it anyway. Somehow, I did a back turning kick or something to score a head shot! How? I just don't know! But I would recommend to learn as much as you can, train on the days when you don't have Taekwondo... Keep working on your flexibility! Oh! Wearing a groin guard enabled me to fear less! Ha ha! It's true! Power to You! Cheers, Samery!

I dont do taekwondo but I somewhat feel more confident now. I love sparring but at the same time I do worry about the possible injuries I might get in the future. The way I spar in my art mostly focuses on hitting the hands and body with only gloves as our only protection.

1. Train them milion Times and for sure it will be more fast and powerful 2. Remember to turn your second foot while kicking 3. It May Look bad but tbh im 14 yr Old got low kick from 7 yr Old and i felt it like hmm acidentally hit something So dont worry about power 4. Ur whole body should kick not only leg

Hey! I'm also an NCTA collegiate national champion, 2 years in a row (Amanda West - 73+ kgs). I don't understand when you mention the "getting to travel" component, nor the U.S. National Team. Collegiate is quite different from actual Nationals. Or do you mean you're on the NCTA all-star team?

I scare of being hit and hurt. But I don’t scare of being hit by a black belt. I scare of being hit by a below black belt. They don’t go for points, they go for destroying opponent’s legs :) especially white belt not being able to kick high, even for kicking trunk. They all throw their kick to hurt people, to break legs. Throwing their kicks without power controlling. Yeah I can absolutely counter them, but take damage is not what I want in a sport. Kicking legs as a low calf as you see in mma is always the best way of kicking. But I do taekwondo as a sport.
