Oh my gosh when you were speaking of the holiness of being a mother, I could literally see that women are the gate way between the spirit world and life on earth. This is so interesting! I am definitely not looking to get pregnant any time soon as I have a 4 week old 😂 but it's especially cool to hear the Jewish beliefs on sex as someone who wasn't raised in religion there's a lot of stereotypes around religious folk being very fuddy duddy and prudish about sex.

Non-Jewish mommy here (aiming for "kosher-hearted gentile)... I would like to know how you decide which "folksy", superstitious things you allow in your life, and which would be a clear "no". G-d warns us about witchcraft, sorcery, fortune telling and the like and wants us to trust and follow Him only. So how do you determine what crosses the line? I watched the movie, "Arranged", and was appalled when the matchmaker tied some string around Rachel 's wrist and muttered incantations so she'd find a husband soon. I would have hurled that ribbon into the fire- nay, I would not have permitted that in the first place!! :-0 Thoughts?

Hi with much respect to Marion's channel, and if I can add my two cents about this, and Marion, feel free to jump in, bc I would also love to hear what you say!!!! Judaism has a lot of superstitions in a ton of areas. If it goes against G-d running the world, or if a person is "playing G-d" so to speak, then its crossing the line. Eating dates, or things like that, do not go against G-d being in control of the world. We're trying to show G-d that we want something good to happen, or something bad not to happen, and we may feel that He is more likely to give us these blessings if we do these superstitions. And the extent a person goes is all one's personal relationship with G-d. But witchcraft, sorcery, fortune telling, where people are playing G-d, figuring out the future, saying words to make something happen etc, which is only for G-d to do, that is where its a no. I hope that makes sense, and I'm open to hearing your thoughts on this also :)

Maybe we can all buy it at the holidays for people we know as gifts we can buy online and have delivered to them. Yes, prayer changes us and how we handle things even when it does not change the facts of the world at large. Even in Near Eastern and Middle Eastern Christianity the date is believed to have this power because it is a healthy fruit of that region.

Also another big segula for everything related to having a baby including finding your bashert is too help build a mikva. Why did you mix superstitions with mitzvas? Refraining from having sex with your husband during your period and 7 days afterwords until you go to the mikva is a command =a mitzva. Orthodox Jewish women follow this rule very carefully. Other Jewish groups like the conservatives and reform don't follow these rules known as "family purity" All the other things you've mentioned are superstitions and not part of Jewish law.. Going to the mikva in the 9th month is a custom practised among some orthodox women.
@MyJewishMommyLife

I did that intentionally, I wanted to incorporate culture / superstition / and law as for me it's all part of it.

I just wanted to say hello and send you my Grandmotherly love, blessings and sincere prayers, honey... I just watched a video that said a woman needed to be “blood free” for 7 days before resuming relations with her husband. In your video you said your most fertile time was a few days after your period. So does a Jewish woman need to wait the 7 days or no?
@alizahalon
@alizahalon Жыл бұрын
A Jewish woman's period is a minimum of 5 days. After the bleeding stops, whether it's 5 days or more, she then counts 7 white days before she goes to the mikvah. There are details that are not being discussed here. It is very important and advisable that you go to talk about this with your local orthodox Rabbi's wife. My aunt does this all the time ( My uncle is a Rabbi. ) in her community. She 's not as much fun as Marion but she's very good at it and so are a lot of other Jewish women who deal with this in their respective communities.
@pamferguson1870

@@alizahalon thank you for your reply! I’m not Jewish so I really don’t have access to a Rabbi and would feel uncomfortable asking such a question. When I watch these videos (which I love and have learned and been enriched by them) they do produce questions which was why I asked. Blessings
@alizahalon
@alizahalon Жыл бұрын
@@pamferguson1870 You sounded like it was very urgent but you aren't obligated to do this mitzvah. I don't understand why you feel the need to know exactly how many days a Jewish woman needs to count. This mitzvah is only for a Jewish woman who is married. Blessings to you as well.

Hi darling hope your family and yourself are safe! I just wanted to say that I love your videos and your a super cute human, but please be careful what facts about jewdiasim you put onto the web! I'm an orthodox jew from London, UK and I'm sorry to let you know that your fact about being allowed to have sex 7days after your period in incorrect! In fact, halachicly, 7days after your period, there are 5 days of purity, after that one has to dip into a womens mikvah and only then one should resume with marital intimacy! Please research your facts before putting them onto the web, as many people will rely and belive what's out there ! Xxx

Thank you! I think you misunderstood, I said 7 days after your period ends, that being said many communities and rabbis have their own recommendations but for anyone wanting to know more read about the 7 days of purity here: www.myjewishlearning.com/article/the-laws-of-niddah/

Thank you for this video... It's very eye opening. Specially about a woman's soul or spirit is in a state of holiness since she has the ability to give life. I always read how diff. Cultures perceive menstruation and child birth as a taboo and a "dirty" situation. But your video offers a totally different thought about that.

Thank you so much!
