How to get PS5 Chat Audio Through TV Speakers and Not Controller Speaker (Easy Method!)

Hey bro, I had this problem.. quick fix. Under sound go to audio output, then output device - make sure it’s on controller headset, and then finally scroll down to the headphones section and change the output to headphones to chat audio. Hope this helps!

On PS4 there used to be a option between all audio and chat audio for headsets we need that on PS5 All I want is the party chat audio through my headset and the game or my music through my TV I have no idea why they removed this feature but they HAVE to add it back

Saaaaaame!! I spent hours trying to Google and figure this out today. I want my friends voice to come through the controller or headset and my game to be tv. I feel like this is a major downgrade for PS5. I don't want my friends voice and intense gaming music coming through my headset but also if he comes through the tv he can hear himself and it echos. That feature already exist on PS5. I know because I've been using my Astros with the system since the PS5 came out day one. I have to have the Astros set to chat audio and not all audio so I can get the Dolby quality. Problem is, even with this on, I don't think it really helps. My issue is when I have my Astros plugged into my PC via USB to the mixamp so I can use discord, and the optical cable plugged into my tv cause there is no port on the PS5, all the game chat goes through my controller and not to the tv which should then go through the optical cable so I can hear but it doesn't and it's annoying.

That's easy actually, make sure you have the headphones selected for audio output device, then some options become available that were previously not when you scroll down, you'll see an "output to headphones" option, from there you will change it to voice chat audio.

Form generation to generation it got worse. Ps3 had even more audio options as ps4 and now we have like nothing on ps5. The ps7 prolly not even have any audio options u just need to hear everything through the console

I am indeed having to use this trick, which means having a thing hanging off my PS5 controller. I know, complaining about PS5 chat issues feels like beyond First World problems and getting into Kardishev type 1 civilization problems, but I do none-the-less hope that Sony issues an update that just lets us put party chat default into HDMI.

A solution I found: Connect a (USB) microphone to your PS5, and voila. The sound comes out of the TV. As long as the input device is Microphone on Controller, all chat sound will go to the controller speakers. So for all headset users, if you want your chat sound through your headset, change your input device to Headset, and it will route the Output also to that headset.

You have to put your audio settings on HDMI TV and everything just like you said, and you also have to go down to the bottom menu, by pushing the PS button once . Make sure that the output device is on HDMI device TV. Then go out of there and go to the next tab over which is the mic. Make sure the mic is on headset controller, and then turn on mute. You will only hear it over your TV, but you have to have your headset plugged in. I just mute my controller, until I need to talk.

Everyone that is trying to actually get chat audio from players mics to the tv without an headset i dont think there isnt any option yet the only way i think is possible is plugging a ps4 controller into your playstation 5 and using that hope this helps

Doesn't work. GTA 5 just does what it wants. The only solution if I want to hear audio from tv system is to turn off voice chat entirely. You can turn off all the sound from controller speakers in GTA 5 and it still sounds. Have to do it from PS5's ridiculous menus, and again, even still... It doesn't work.

The gamesound gets recorded if: 1. You don't plug in anything. Just record with the elgato and listen to the elgato game monitoring through your PC. 2. Gamesound AND Chat-Audio gets recorded when you use the Headset as Headphones using the 3,5 Aux Cable through TV to Headphones. As soon as your Ps5 communicates with Peripherals such as headphones in controller or the Pulse wireless, the sound gets "blocked". So for me it's like when I want to record I either use nothing or Aux cable. That's what I figured. :D

Didn’t even know this was an issue until my friend asked me for help. I don’t have this problem with my ps5 but then again, I have the Astros A40 TR pro with the Astro HDMI adapter and I can hear chat through both speakers connected to my monitor and headset. Maybe the HDMI adapter works around the problem.

It does because the chat audio is being transmitted to the headset without the HDMI audio. The HDMI Adapter allows you to receive that audio too. Strange work around but yeah.

So, i stream through OBS. in order for OBS to get my game audio i have to put everything through the tv but then when that happens then im not able to hear anything through my headset, unless i turn the volume on my tv up, which causes the audio to go through my headset mic. Xbox has a feature where game audio and game chat goes through both headset and speakers, allowing me to get the audio to OBS and through my heaset and still be able to talk in game chat.

I found out how to change it. Go to "settings" then "sound" then "audio output" then "headphones" plug in your ps4 or any type of headphones, then go to "output to headphones" and change it from "all audio" to "chat audio". Note: You will still have to use the microphone on the ps5 controller, there's no way around that.

Here's how to fix it. Get a 3.5 jack that does both mic and audio. Plug it into the controller. Make sure the audio output setting is tset to TV as seen in the video and the voice chat should now be coming through the TV. If it aint, the 3.5 jack is probably not recognized, you can tell because the audio settings is showing only TV not an option of TV or controller headset. Try again with a different 3.5 jack.

So, I tried this when i was playing Apex, but the person I was voice chatting with could only hear themselves. I switched to using the PS5 headset and that worked, but I have to use the microphone on the headset, otherwise the voice chat goes back to the controller.

Hopefully someone could answer my question because I am very confused. I have my wired headphones connected to my monitor instead of my controlelr. This is because I don’t want the cord getting as bent when playing. I can hear the audio in game perfectly fine, but when people are talking warzone 2 I hear them through my controller instead. I still have my audio output on PlayStation as the tv, and the audio output on warzone as headset, and it’s still coming through my controller. I tried the speakers audio output on warzone too, and it still comes through my controller. I’m not sure why, but it seems I can only hear both the audio and people talking by plugging into my controller, but is slowly bending wire and breaking headphones, and help or tips would be appreaciated.
