12v to 5v converters allow you to plug argb fans but do not let you have argb control, only solid RGB. So it defeats the purpose of the converter for non 5v motherboards

You can use as many fans as you want. You motherboard may have only two argb headers but you can only use one argb header and daisy chain multiple fans just from that one header.

got a good deal on a pre owned MSI B520m-a pro. No rgb/argb headers. My fans can be daisy chained for both ARGB and PWM. In theory I should just have to buy a cheap ARGB controller such as the DS Mini ARGB PC Fans Controller Kit and daisy chain the ARGB connectors. As well I should just be able to daisy chain my PWM connectors from the fans directly to my sys fan header on mobo and skip buying the PWM controller. Am I correct? Yes if the ram has RGB built into it like gskills or every other RGB ram it will work. It will just display with the default rainbow colors but you can use something like signal RGB or open RGB to control the rams RGB, but it will most definitely work. You only need RGB headers on the Motherboard to control things like fans with RGB, aio with RGB or an RGB strip. Even then the RGB headers are only really used to sync up all RGB devices. I recommend getting a good RGB controller like cooler master RGB Controller it uses standard 3pin 5v connectors and signal RGB will recognize it along with your ram and you can sync everything together. Again you do not need RGB headers for RGB to work on peripherals such as ram, GPU, keyboard and mouse ECT...

Not sure what kind of adapter you bought but argb connector needs an argb controller or argb header on motherboard. If your motherboard has argb headers then you have to download the software from your motherboard manufacturer but for argb controller you don't need to download anything. Your rgb corsair sp120 has rgb connector they are different from argb connector.

i have a question..I bought some ARGB fans, but I don't think they have a 4-pin 5V female connection, it only seems to have a 3-pin 5V female connection. my motherboard is an asus with aura sync and has 4 pin RGB fan slot. I connected all the fans to a hub, without a controller, but the hub output has a simple 12v 4 pin connection, which therefore does not enter the RGB fan, so the fans are spinning but the LEDs are off. if I try to connect them both together via the 3-pin 5v connection and then on the hub, should they turn on?

4 pin is 12v and 3 pin 5v. 4 pin 12v caused some voltage problem in the past so they changed it to 3 pin 5v. This is the standard now. If your motherboard only has 4 pin rgb; 3 pin argb fans won't work. You just need to get a simple argb controller to fix your issue.

There is a reason you don't see manufacturer's using 4 pin rgb in new motherboards anymore. The industry switched to 3 pin for rgb needs.

@@coolStranger516 Yeah, I went back and looked at a few cases with integrated LED buttons and it looks like most don't come with ARGB controllers (possibly with the exception of Musetex cases or the other popular semi-off brand RGB everywhere cases). But, I would imagine if they have an LED button, they would have an ARGB connector to utilize it. But then, without a motherboard ARGB header, you're in complicated territory. No full-case RGB control. Probably just limited to fans, LED strips, and possibly a CPU cooler LED.

Motherboard, pc case and cpu cooler they all have separate argb controllers but you only need one. Buying rgb case and rgb cpu cooler will make things more complicated for you. Get pc case with no argb fans and cpu cooler with no argb fans. Then Buy as many argb fans as you need and daisy chain everything from Motherboard's argb. You can also use an argb connector hub for better wire management but you don't really need to. And for cpu cooler; just replace its stock fans to argb fans that you purchased and boom. You have all argb fans from same company and they all syncs up the same way.

Cpu fan goes with cpu. And I am not sure about hub. I need to look at it. If the hub has pwm and argb you can connect all your fans to it and your fans should run. But if the hub is not connected to the motherboard somehow then you won't be able to control fan speed. They will always run at 100%. You should get a pwm fan splitter extention cable and connect it to your case fan header and connect all your other fans to the extention cable.

Your case has a built-in ARGB controller and it's not gonna sync with a software controller...disconnect the case fan's argb header from case's built-in controller and put into your motherboard's argb controller... If not possible just buy a new fans with argb+pwm options...these fans are darn cheap now....and Software controller only works with motherboard headers... So in order for everything to sync the same way it must be connected to the motherboard....

Power connector and argb connectors are separate. You fans should have argb connector that also needs to be connected to the hub. And finally you need a argb controller if your motherboards doesn't have any. Most Hubs are good for wire management. They don't produce argb colors.

Fan manufacturer? Are you connecting with argb header or pwm header? Argb is always 3 pin and pwm is 4 pin. They have different shapes.

since the fans are lighting up that means that case fan hub already have a argb controller built into it. The fans should have another separate cable with pwm fan headers; those fan headers need to be connected to the motherboard. Now, the big question here is what type fan do you have?

I have looked at some of reviews from minetech air 100 case. You may just have faulty fans. You don't need to buy argb controller with this set up. You should be able to change colors with your the switch on your case.

@@lertmtheaux you can get fake argb fans. They are just led but looks like rgb. But you won't be able to change colors. Another way to get those argb fans with remote control. They run on sata power. So you would be able to change colors but no the fan speed.

I'm using WAR HAMMER Kratos 1500 RPM 120 KIT ARGB that comes with a hub and remote controller, very cheap for how goood it looks but it uses 6 pin to connect 3 fans. I have Deepcool GAMMAXX Series AG400 ARGB cpu cooler, the fans working fine but no RGB lights cause it has male and female only for 3 pin. Is there a way to connect this with my current hub since my motherboard doesn't support any RGB

Hello. I got a MSI B450 GAMING PLUS MAX mobo with 4pin 12v RGB header I want to install multiple "Cooler Master MasterFan MF140 Halo ARGB". I found "Cooler Master Driver RGB A-RGB LED Controller MFP-ACBN-NNUNN-R1 MFP-ACBN-NNUNN-R1, Multicolor, One Size". My question is: Since this mobo doesn't have an ARGB header(3pin 5v), can i connect the ARGB fans to the controller and then connect it to my motherboard without any issue like burning something?

@@giuseppe7695 I would advise against using those rgb to argb converter. The pc industry was having voltage issues with these 12v 4 pin rgb header. That's why they got rid them in first place. All you need is a $5 argb controller. Then you can hook any argb fans from any brands.

Ok my asus h110 doesn’t have rgb but I have an nzxt h5 elite with argb fans preinstalled in it it has its own rgb controller but only the fans come on no rgb lights come on and I don’t know what to do lol

Hi i am planning to get a case kolink citadel mesh rgb case. this case has at the back of it something like an argb panel , a remote controler and 3 argb fans. so here is my question, my motherboard does not have neither rgb not argb header. during the build where do i plug these fans and if the answer is the rear panel of the box(mini hub), where do this afterwards get connected ? to 4 pin motherboard connector or psu? and if that sthe case what kind of control and result should i expect? hope i did not confuse you and that i was clear

Alrighty. I took a look at the case on the Amazon website. From what I understand from the pictures; this hub is a type of all in one controller. That is why they provide you with the remote. You have to connect the pwm female connector from the hub to one of your fan headers in the motherboard and connect all fans to the hub. Also connect all argb fan cables to the hub. But this hub needs to be powered up by something. There is usually a SATA power connector that connects to the PSU. If none there should be some other connector that power it. And they provided one extra argb cable that runs from the hub and connects to the motherboard argb header but you don't have to use it if your motherboard has no argb. You should be able to control the aRGB lighting with the remote because the hub has built-in aRGB in it.

Hi, i hope i can get a response, this is an act of desperation lol. So i got a pc for my friend, his birthsay is in a few days, and i wanted to pretty the build up. The mobo doesnt naturally support rgb, so i got a rgb connector (ROG one off amazon) it connects via sata cable but theres no lighta when i try on his pc. I can get it to work on my own, but i have to connect an rgb cord from the connector to an rgb header for it to work, which completely defeats the purpose of why i bought it. Am i missing something? Pls help, anyone, i only got a few days to figure this out 😭😭 Edit, idk if this info gelps, but its a dell g5 5000 and the front bezel and interior have a little bit of led. Also im willing to buy adapters or wtv, as long as i can get them quick enough
