After all this time there still isn't a universal RGB protocol. Aurasync, MysticLight, iCUE, Polysync Chrome, etc. Imagine needing a special ink pen for each brand of paper that you used.

Hi LionWithTheLamb, I completely understand that. Even with efforts out there like signal RGB to pull it all together, it's still a big mess. It would be nice if everybody would adopt a single connection method and control standard. I saw it mentioned that Corsair was going to offer licensing the icue link system to other vendors. But, I have little hope any of that would ever happen, probably is pricey. In the meantime, we just have to work with it and i've been able to pull almost everything into icue. Good Luck, have fun and thanks for watching!!!!

Great video. I struggled a lot with this as I was mixing and matching RGB components. I got a commander core xt and tried plugging in non-corsair products. This was horrible with the icue. SO I just ended up coughing up the money to get all corsair components. It wasn't until after that I found Signal RGB, a game changer. I am able to use any component and they all mesh perfectly instead of trying to use a proprietary software to a corresponding hardware. If anyone is having the same issues when mix and matching rgb hardware, I recommend Signal RGB. I got rid of the icue and now everything talks to each other. There are awesome lighting patterns, customization of said patterns, as well as the layout of them, meaning you can "place" each RGB component in virtual space and the rgb reacts in the order and sequence you place it in. They support a TON of RGB components as well as motherboards if yours has built in RGB, so you can controls everything seamlessly and in unison. The ONLY downside with signal RGB is that it is a subscription based software . At the moment, it is a flat $40 US for an annual subscription. No, I do not work for them or get paid to advertise. I just can't say how great the software has been. I got suckered into buying one RGB brand of components after I had already purchased components that I liked. The problem was that if they all weren't the same brand, they wouldn't work with the iCue software. I do not regret paying the $40 for the year.

Microsoft is supposed to offer RGB control from Windows in a very near update. It's actively being talked about quite a bit on other tech channels. I'm intrigued to see how well that works out Microsoft taking an active interest could mean either they dominate the RGB market with "power tools" or it ends up being super flaky. A little competition never hurt. SignalRGB doesn't work with my setup. It causes a lights out scenario and that terrifies me to see. I'm stuck using iCue for fans and AIO. PNY Velocity X for Graphics Card RGB. MSI for JRAINBOW ports. It's not ideal but it works.

@@toddsherman812 weird that it causes that issue. For me they did turn off until I set the devices up. I’m certain it’ll be ok.

Thanks for putting this out there. I've been curious about these devices. I have like 30 RGB devices in my computer and they're all daisy chained with splitters and two JRAINBOW ports on my MOBO. I feel like if I had to redo the whole RGB setup again (it's a nighmare when something diconnects) -- I'd probably use a couple of hubs to create a central input area. However, due to Corsair fans each having 2 cables each (RGB and PWM) and have 11 fans in my computer... that's 22 cables and cable management is a mess. Throw in the RGB elements of my computer and wow... I doubt cable management is even possible. It's a spaghetti of thin cables that controls fans, RGB, etc.

Hi Todd Sherman, I totally get that, haha, sounds like a crazy cool build. Using hubs would probably help make that a bit more manageable. I've daisy chained devices like that and it works, but I don't exactly love the standard 3 pin ARGB connector, it lets ago a bit too easily, the hubs seem to help grip the connector a bit. Thanks for your support and for watching!!!!

@@HardwareArtisan I use white sticker labels (to label the connection end) and clear packing tape to wrap the ends of the RGB cables together. The 3 pin connector setup is pretty weak. Avery 6113 labels work great for this. Clear package tape only reenforces the label wrap.

is it me or do the sl infinity fans already have female 3 pin cables? and could i just connect those directly to a razer controller? or am i missing something and i end up frying something?

My Gamdias case came with 4 ARGB fans and the MB has no RGB so I got the CoolMoon style hub and works great with the remote or the ARGB button on the case. The case fans and CPU cooler fans are all hooked to it.

My Omen 30L motherboard has no extra headers for power or rgb. I was thinking of something to power straight from a SATA. The Coolmoon looks interesting, but where does the 3 pin wire coming off of it go?

Are the hubs than only plug to motherboard header without any sata power safe? I want to put 6 RGB fans from my rgb controller to a hub and plug it into motherboard so i can control everything from aura but im afraid they will be too much for one hader?

Can you connect the lighting node pro to non-corsair argb-fan hub? Will it work with corsair icue?

I use the DEEPL translation. I watched some videos. I have a question. I have an extra Lighting Node Core. Is there any way this could be useful in a product other than Corsair? The Lighting Node Core only recognizes Corsair fans. If you use a 4-pin to 3-pin connection Corsair cable from another company and connect it to an ARGB product from another company, it will not work.

Generally speaking, the lighting node core is only useful for corsair fans. I haven't tried using an adapter cable to plug in any other devices, im not aware of any pre-made cables for this. It might work, but I'm not sure what results you would get, I may have to try that. You can use a lighting node pro, core xt, or commander pro and adapt the rgb port to a standard 3 pin rgb connection and use a hub to make multiple connections for non corsair rgb devices. I hope that helps, thanks for watching!

@@HardwareArtisan When I connect 6 ARGB fans (1FAN9LED) to Lightingnodecore, etc. via a hub made by another company, up to 3 of them work fine, but from the 4th fan, the light becomes strange and when I connect the 5th and 6th fan, the whole system stops working. Of course, both Lightingnodecore and other company's hubs take SATA power. Have you ever installed many (at least 6) ARGB fans on a competitor's HUB in the same way? Is it possible that Corsair has taken countermeasures against other ARGB products at the software level?

I checked all the other company's HUBs and the 3-pin headers on the motherboard and found no malfunctions. The only time they failed was through the corsair.
