We just moved to Tennessee (south of Nashville) from Minnesota and have never had to deal with these critters. I wanted to thank you for an excellent demonstration that I just completed. I'm so glad you said to wait till the ant mound is not active. I literally just stepped in a fire ant mound while mowing and was ready to drown them in killer 😆. I also came to see if I could use it on my whole lawn but I don't want to kill my grass so I'll get something to treat the whole lawn separately. Side note your son's face......I thought it was only my kids that thought everything manual and work related was "trash" 🤣😂🤣😂

Thank goodness I found this channel! I’m a NYC gal that unfortunately got stuck in Florida and I’m completely overwhelmed. I have no idea how to keep up with fire ants. I have 2 huge mounds and I’m going to follow these instructions carefully. I’m going to wake up at 7am and do exactly what you did. I’m not afraid for me because I’d never go to the yard!😳😬 But I do have a large dog and I don’t want to see him hurt! I miss my apartment and concrete sidewalks so much!😭😉 Thank you so very much. I can easily follow the instructions on the video. Thanks again!👍🏻😊

The next day I flatten out the mount and it's like it's was never there.🤷🏾♂️ Ok so update now that I care about my lawn 😆 I think I'm going to use another solution. I wonder if there is a way we can spread something on the lawn to prevent or kill the ants before the mount grows. I'll check out that video you talked about

dug my garden out tonight along the walls pulling the earth back and revealed holes in the brick work underneath , that houses colonies of ants So if you have them in gardens try pulling the earth back anywhere where earth meets wall and paving slabs I found 6 nests in about an hour and a half in fact about 8 nests Then when you find them use fair liquid with water in a pump spray bottle and it kills them in about 5 to ten seconds

I remember 20yrs ago there was a tall tube that u turn the top 180° and sprinkle the granules wherever ants wer present and within seconds ud see the ants twitching and then dead. It didnt matter what kind of ant species, didnt matter what time of day it was, if we wer playing and seen a bunch of ants, just get the stuff and sprinkle it on the ants and done. Now its a bunch of instructions and steps and waiting and its only for one type of ants. Now, i just pour gas on em and done as done.

@@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral How often do you have to kill the fire ant mounds? How long do they stay gone after you kill them all? Do they stay gone for weeks, or months, or years? Have you tried using boiling water or the orange oil method? I'm trying the sugar and borax on regular ants. The tiny red ants eat that and die within 1 to 3 days, but the medium and larger black ants aren't very attracted to that poison. We don't have fire ants in the snow belt, but we have to prepare for them when we move to Florida.

Dave Borchard a month or so but if you treat mounds and entire lawn you can get control for entire season. If you use boiling water you’ll kill the grass in that spot for the entire season. Haven’t tried oils.

How to kill a fire ant Mound for free! Takes minutes. Get a 3 foot thin round Rod. Poke it near center of mound till you locate a soft deeper spot. That's where the Queen lives. Poke the rod into the dirt marking the position of the her. Now go to get the pot of boiling water U prepared on the stove! (wicked grin) Return to the mound covered by pissed off fire ants attacking your rod. Pour the boiling water in that position. Remove the rod and then slam the rod on the ground to shed it of pissed off ants. The next day you'll see millions of dead bodies and a few live that soon will die without a queen. The dead grass will re-root and grow back. The total cost is about 10 min of your time and a pot of boiling water. I live in Florida. for 42 yrs I kill a mound when I see one.
@Clairecrowe201 Жыл бұрын
Unless you have many mounds. It takes a while for the dead grass to grow back so you will have spots of dead grass for a while but if that doesn’t bother you, go for it. It is really ugly. I’d say go a different route.
