Amlactin 12% along with a Urea cream and only taking lukewarm to cool showers transformed my skin and got rid of my KP!

Helpful video! I saw another physician on YT claiming that KP is a result of underlying hyperinsulemia, and seems to be advocating keto or low carb. Which confuses me bc my 1yo baby has KP, and I can’t put a baby on lowcarb, milk and oatmeal has carbs lol. You heard of this?? You say to avoid physical exfoliants, but then recommend a body scrub? 🤔 Seems a little confusing there. Thank you for the tip about nickel free razors. I know nickle earrings are irritating to many! I’ve had skin improvement from the Naturium body wash called “the smoother,” with glycolic acid, it’s not irritating or scented. I use a clean cotton washcloth each shower, better than a loofah? Been using Urea cream on my feet for years, just 20%, helps keeps calluses at bay but doesn’t stop them completely and doesn’t irritate my hands so it mist not be that strong. I could see using 40% on the feet. I am unsure if I can use a gentle exfoliating acid (like AmLactin?) on my toddler’s arms/cheeks, maybe I should do a small patch on arm to monitor for reactions.

I did ask pediatricians about baby’s KP on cheeks and arms/legs, they always brush it off as “they’ll grow out of it quick, harmless.” But my kiddo is now over a year old, and it hasn’t gone away at all, and still has cheeks like sandpaper. It’s not serious enough to seek out a pediatric derm, but what can I do? Why might a 1yo have this chicken skin all over cheeks, and esp the one arm he sleeps on a lot. He’s bathed every 3 days, rinsed well, and lotioned with Tubby Tod or Lipikar lotion after every bath. Should I start bathing him daily maybe?

It may have keratolytic activity. But to date, there is no substantial clinical evidence supporting the use of chlorine dioxide for keratosis pilaris. Most treatments focus on exfoliation and moisturizing to reduce keratin buildup and smooth the skin.

Can i take steam bath if i have kp?

Prolonged exposure to high heat can dry out the skin and worsen KP. Keep steam baths short, ideally no more than 10-15 minutes. The benefit you can say is that, the heat can soften the skin cells, making gentle exfoliation easier and more effective. So after steaming, using a mild exfoliating scrub or brush can help remove the buildup.
