What I love about my country is how actually easy it is to get the citizenship. I am born to Rwandan parents in Canada, and applied for citizenship when I went to Rwanda for the 4th time (1st time since I had reached the age of majority). I went to the NIDA (National ID Agency) located in Kimihurura with my parents' Rwandan ID card, my birth certificate and my passport, and was granted the citizenship within 48 hours!! And I had only paid 500 Rwandan francs (less than $0,60 US). Anywayyy, my country rocks big time
@theoisback4 жыл бұрын
Ohh yeah, it's very easy. Especially if you come so well prepared like you did.
@annickumutesi13373 жыл бұрын
Yes so true. As long as you have one parent who is Rwandan, you're automatically allowed to have your citizenship. We also have to say about the free visa if you're a Rwandan diaspora travelling with a foreign passport and a rwandan ID. Even if it's the old one,as long as you can prove your rwandan identity,it's free.

I'm a Kenyan-American design/urban planning student with dual citizenship and am so inspired by Rwanda's development in the last few decades. I want to invest in building/hosting airbnb type spaces and encourage tourism travel to all of East Africa, but especially Kenya and Rwanda. I am doing this with various African American partners to encourage my philosophy of the Back to Africa Movement. I had no idea, through option number 3, citizenship could possibly be an option. What great news.

I was born in Canada and am a Canadian citizen; my parents were multi-generational Istanbul Turks. I've commented on another or your videos that you speak to me too and I share your feelings for my ancestral land, and I understand when you speak of Rwanda. I visited Istanbul back in 2015 and developed the fantasy that I would like to purchase a home in one of the northern suburbs on the Bosphorus on the European side and live back in Istanbul as a real Istanbullite. However, the political and social events that have happened in Istanbul and Turkey since then have made me change my mind completely. Coupled with that, the Istanbul that I really "know" is the one my parents left behind in 1957, and that Istanbul is long gone. My point to all of this is and I'm assuming you have Dutch citizenship and a Dutch passport and if so, don't ever give them up. If travelling is still important to you, that Dutch passport will still open doors for you the Rwandan passport will not. My Canadian passport allows me easy entry to so many places worldwide; Europe for example, which my friends with Turkish passports cannot enter without a visa. I understand your feelings towards Rwanda and "fitting in" (believe me I do), but never, never, never lose your Dutch citizenship!
