The only thing I'm wondering about all this is if you absolutely have to change the time to shiny hunt or if you just did it because you didn't want to wait until just passed midnight (which would be understandable. I doubt anyone would normally want to do that unless you're a night owl.)

You don’t have to change the date! I just did it so I could record the video in one day! And you don’t have to wait until specifically night! You just have to wait until the next day and you should be good to start hunting!

Congrats! And good luck on your hunt! As for transferring to Pokémon home, they are closing the eshop down on that date but Pokémon bank will remain active after! We just don’t know for how long 😔

@@PikachuGamerSMT you can get it on the 3DS e shop. I don’t think you can add funds to the 3DS e shop anymore but the app is free and you should still be able to download it. If you need to pay for the subscription and can’t you can add funds through your switch as it is it the same system, then use the funds to purchase a subscription!

I have heard it reported that using the savestate feature of the VC to reset does not actually count as soft resetting from someone who built a machine to automatically do resets and went 100k resets without a shiny Celebi. To actually reset the RNG properly you _need_ to do the button combo.

I have successfully shiny hunted the dragons den dratini I’m Crystal using the touch screen to reset. I think I’ve heard something along the lines of that but I don’t think it works exactly like that so idk

I think is 1/4096 because just look at every shiny hunt. I’m still yet to see a hunt over 10k SR’s. I got mine yesterday at around 7k sr’s I honestly think it’s shiny rate is higher. Idk though… it just seems a little fishy.

The base odds of shiny Pokémon from gen 2-5 are 1/8192. For gen 2 you can actually break down why it’s specifically 1/8192. Shiny odds in gen 2 are based on the stats of the Pokémon. Their ivs can range from 0-15 for each stat which means there’s 16 total outcomes a stat can be. To get a shiny, 3 of the stats need to be exactly 10 which is a 1/16 x 1/16 x 1/16 which gives a 1/4096 chance. However the attack stat needs to be specific as well but not exactly a 10 stat, the attack can be half of the total 16 values giving you an 8/16 chance or a 1/2. So the total odds of a shiny are 1/4096 x 1/2 which results in a 1/8192 chance for a shiny

Shinies that are hunted for are more rewarding to have. Plus I personally like to keep GO and main series separate because most shinies in GO aren't rare at all with all the community days they do.

@@ThedomiNATION How do you feel about mew though? since it is no way easy to get will take countless hours and is the first time in 15 years they have released legit shiny mew.

@@NightcoreDemon you can hunt mew in either red/blue/yellow or emerald. You have to use only semi legit ways of obtaining it but it's still cool that it can be hunted. I do prefer the way they did mew in GO over celebi but I will always prefer shinies with a random low chance of being shiny over a guaranteed encounter that's just hard to get to. I do however appreciate that GO is allowing a lot of people to get these pokemon shiny in the first place. My favorite example is when they did shiny genesect in GO as it is currently still impossible to hunt shiny genesect in main series. Still holding out for other pokemon like victini, and meloetta, and keldeo, and any future generation mythical!

@@ThedomiNATION using a glitch, exploit or gameshark is not legit doesn't matter if you can hunt it, the pokemon will never be legit. I agree that soft resetting for a shiny mew is more rewarding when he finally shows up and everything you've worked for has paid off but sadly seems like pokemon company are going to be releasing most if not all mythicals in GO instead of main games. sadly I missed out on actual cool events like the mew and celebi events where you're just given an object that takes you to a special place where you get to encounter the pokemon... It's a nice journey that makes everything seem more wondrous. Nowadays we just get a code that gives you zarude and that's it. The pokemon feels empty because theres no story to it.. makes me care less for the newer mythicals ya know?

I'm not familiar with the crystal cloning glitch. But I'd assume it wouldn't affect the ivs of celebi when you reset for it

For emulators there's a code that only unlocks the quest for Celebi. I hate using cheats because it takes the fun out it. And de-legitimizes completing the pokedex. So this is the only cheat I am kinda okay with, though I still hate that it's the only way. But at least I'm only just unlocking the hidden files and not just spawning in free pokemon. I did the quest, took the GS ball to Kurt, waited the full day and caught Celebi.

You can easily change the date and time on the 3DS instead of doing the whole password and stuff.

That doesn’t affect the clock set in the Crystal virtual console. This is because there was no internal clock on the gameboy color so the date and time is set in the game.

@@ThedomiNATION I changed the date on 3DS and it still worked tho :v Kurt told me to wait a day, I changed the 3DS date to the next day, and when I went back in he gave ne the GS Ball back. Guess there are two ways to do it for the virtual console.

@@ThedomiNATION hahaha well, to be fair, in the more current games if you changed the time on your 3DS it didnt change anything. It sometimes even restarted whatever you were doing as a penalty of sorts for trying to "cheat the system". I know in ORAS you cant change the day for battling NPCs in hideouts. Glad I could help though! Even if this video was 3 years old 😅

Yep! You can get one celebi per save file! Restart your save file as many times as you want to keep getting more!

You might be able to find a chart on Google for what level equals what nature. I think you have to use rare candies as I think nature is dependent on the exact exp amount the Pokémon has
