In this series, I will be revamping my Pokemon Home living dex by catching every Pokemon in their oldest games possible and I will be catching them all in POKEBALLS ONLY! This episode is Generation 5!
Despite Unova having the largest roster of Pokemon in terms of dex entries, this was one of the more straight forward living dexes to complete... Aside from those pesky genies.

Thanks! And good long on yours! If you are having trouble with version exclusives from red and silver, you can always use mew glitch to get them in Blue and ACE to get them in Gold! But you’d have to look into them as I don’t know all the stats you need for every Pokémon for mew glitch and don’t know pretty much anything about ACE except for the the fact that you can get any Pokémon with out lol

Loving your living dex videos been following them since the Kanto dex! So far, I’ve finished Kanto, Johto, Kalos while almost done with Hoenn and Alola. I have just beaten Black and man it was great! Btw, I haven’t noticed you ever talk about a different way to get events since some reason the DNS isn’t working for me but I’ll get it figured it out. I’ve been using the fan app PKSM to get the events for the DS and 3DS games which is an easy way to get the Liberty pass. So, if those who are having issues with getting the event have a modded 3DS there is that option though be sure that event is overwriting a wonder card for it to properly work and don’t insert the event to a game that the event didn’t support because it can crash the game and you’ll have to complete reset the game to fix it. It happened to me just a few days ago missing with Diamond.

Currently working though my gen 1 dex. About 33% complete, but working on beating Yellow and catch the rest of my Pokémon there. Only exception I’ll have is my Mew will come from my LGPE ball thing. It has my OT and that’s the important part. Looking forward to finishing this up and getting all my Eevees and completing the Pokédex in Gen I!

Been doing my own living dex, very similar to yours! Pokeball only, original game, my OT, gender differences, form differences, etc. I also decided to get duplicates for unboxable form changes for pokemon like castform, meloetta, and wishiwashi, as well an extra dialga and palkia of their origin forms ever become boxable. The progress is...lacking, especially since I don't have any gen 3 or 5 games, but working on it. Right now speeding through an X playthrough to get two Xerneus', and will try to figure out how to get every regional vivillon.

Fun Fact: Changing the date on your system to get the different seasons of Deerling and Sawsbuck wasn’t the only way to get them. If you bring them to Scarlet or Violet, they’ll change form depending on where you are when you save and reopen the game (with them in your party)

You cannot put those in home. Same goes for the necrozma fusions and the calyrex fusions. They will still get registered though if you have the basic forms in home though!

Up to this point I’d not considered doing a living dex with Pokémon being brought over from gens earlier than gen 6, I’d moved my Pokémon from gen 6 & 7 to home and have been working to get the Pokémon from the Switch games & Go. Got recommended this video a few days back, had not seen any of the previous videos so went back and watched in generation order. Thinking about giving it a try as much as possible tho might miss certain ones if they require long winded glitches, for eevee on red/blue 3ds vc will there be issues transferring it to bank then home if instead of playing through several times I backed up my save before picking up eevee, pick it up transfer to bank, reload backed up save then rinse/repeat? Is there like a value or something that gets set per save so every eevee picked up has the same value so can’t send more than one to Home

Technically speaking because there’s no breeding in gen 1, you cannot have multiple eevee from the same save file. However bank and home don’t take that into account and they will still count as legal! Other options though would be to use the mew glitch to catch multiple eevee, or to breed for eevee in gen 2 and send them back to gen 1 before transferring them up (like what I did with jynx and Mr. mime)

Don’t worry about it! We don’t know when bank is shutting down and there’s a solid chance there will be an alternative way to transfer up Pokémon! Don’t let it stress you out and you got this!

Unfortunately no. If bank shuts down that will be terrible but I can’t bring myself to catch multiple of every Pokémon in the off chance they get a new evolution in a later game 😕

i'm still working on the Living Ball Dex as i believe i called it in the comments of a previous video - all pokemon in every ball. I actually revamped it and spread it across various generations in order to make it possible to store everything, with a lot of spreadsheets and planning to figure out exactly what game to store every pokemon in. I'm currently about a quarter of the way through finishing this in generation 3 by time - a lot of it by time is replaying Pokemon Colosseum and XD over and over, so it's slow progress to make sure I don't burn out. i already have a few sections of the dex complete up to generation 6 - i have every pokemon legal in safari, sport, and apricorn balls before they made them obtainable items in later games, which was quite gruelling.

I already know Gen 6 is going to be brutal. 18 region locked Vivillon patterns, 9 Furfrou coats that are region locked in pokemon Go since they can't put in Go and Furfrou is only in 3ds games. For the Vivillion patterns if you want them in X and Y, you need 3 3ds one North American, European, and Japanese, as well as the corresponding games, so you have access to all 18 region patterns. To get a new pattern you have to change the region of your 3ds before you start the game for the first time. I believe if you restart you can change the region again. The Pumkaboos are nothing compared to those headaches

You can catch smeargle in black and white if you get a swarm for it! Other than that you can catch it in all the gen 4 games or emerald and send it up

I have taken this challenge a million steps further. I am doing the same thing he is except I am using the original Gameboy games for generations 1 and 2 then downloading them onto my computer and overwriting the digital saves on my 3ds. I am also going for every gender, even if the form does not change. On top of all this, I am also hunting shinies as well as finding both genders even if there is no form change. Hopefully, I finish before GameFreak decides to finally make Pokemon bank no longer compatible with Home lol. I am currently on gen 3.

Just saying if you have the Gen 6 and 7 games you can catch and evolve a lot of these Pokémon even the Legendary ones. And if you want all of the Vivilion, you will need the Pokeball pattern. That one is event only and comes in a pokeball. The Fancy pattern was an event but got released in Gen 9. The rest will have to be caught in Scarlet/Violet or Go.

I'm not doing exactly a living dex, but more of a every-dex? So like, I have a full living dex for scarlet and violet of all pokemon, not just paldean ones, but also a full living dex of, say, Kanto, even though there's overlap of pokemon. So if I can get Chansey in six regions, I need six Chanseys. I'm not going with the first game of that generation (mainly because I missed getting the digital games), but as long as they're from the right region, I'm counting it. It's an absolute MESS to keep organized in my home boxes, but I'm hoping to get the challenge done before the new generation drops. I mean. I don't have any Johto games. So I'm *definitely* crossing my fingers for the Let's Go remake rumors to be real, otherwise that just ain't possible ^^;;

I’m actually doing the same thing! Just instead of keeping them in home I keep them in their respective games! So far I’m only doing the switch titles as home has a little challenge to fill out the dexes of each game. But I would love to at least go back and finish the National dexes of my fire red and platinum games as well!

Not doing a living dex but just the usum Pokédex. And GOOD. LORD. does it take a while with all the breeding, rare spawns and sos chaining. And I’m currently left with around 90 entries left after 3 weeks of playing. 1 of which was spent beating the game. Edit: I DID IT! SHINY CHARM ACQUIRED AND ITS TIME TO HUNT SOME LEGENDARIES

Don’t know why you choose to get the mythicals via events if you can catch them with normal pokeballs on the dlcs of the switch games. Yeah it’s not gonna say they caught in unova but at least it’s not gonna show you a Cherish Ball.

BW is great, gameplay is a little boring but BW2 is much better, had fun building the dex but for one of my little “challenges” I add on for myself is to get everything possible in the game without transferring up to evolve/change forms so grinding was a little annoying, after I finished it up honestly I played through the Unova games too many times now, think I’m done with BW/BW2 for a while, at least until I come back to hunt a few mons 😅
