This is great! I just applied to be a Notary. In my state, you just have to meet a few qualifications and send a fee of $45. It takes about 2-3 weeks to get approved. I just put my real estate license on inactive hold and will be a referral agent for a year, so I can go back into real estate when I'm ready, but I needed a break from it after 11 years. I did mostly rentals and property management which was extremely stressful. It brought in sales and listings, but they were slow. Referrals brought me more and more work each year, but I really needed a break. I've been to every closing with my clients, I know how this works, and I am super familiar with the closing process and I'm close with many title companies that I've used over the years. This seems like something I would enjoy much more than being a real estate agent. I honestly thought that it was the only opportunity out there. I had no idea that there was such a thing as signing agents. I am going to get certified and take some loan doc courses. I'm going to definitely pay visits to all my title company, lender, and realtor friends. So glad I found your channel!

My Notary Commission was approved yesterday....YAY!! I would like to be a Signing Agent and work with title companies but for the State of Maryland, notaries are required to obtain a Title Producer License. It's illegal to touch any real estate transactions without it! I will notarize other documents until I become licensed and able to work direct with title companies. I suggest people check on their individual state requirements!

That's understandable, but don't get stuck in the "signing company" rut. Give yourself a time frame to "learn" from signings with signing companies (I would say no more than 6 months, if you are serious) and then start marketing directly to title companies! You can do it! 😁
