You can avoid the PDT rule by just opening a cash account, not a margin account. If you’re learning how to trade that is where you should begin. It is slower but if you’re in the process of learning then a slower pace is probably a good thing

You still have to deal with cash settlement rules though, so it's not actually "trade as much as you want".

ClayTrader you’re totally right! I didn’t clarify that. As long as you have money in the account you can trade all day. So starting with $100 is difficult in that respect. This is actually what I did a week ago and I’ve successfully grown the account 10%. I’m just having fun learning it as a hobby and I’m interested in learning more about futures. But I don’t feel like I’m ready for that step yet

Brother. Your story is exactly what where I am at. Took first ever 100$ to almost 700$. Blew it up. I now have reinvested with 200$. Definitely learned some things that first round. So, I now have 200$ and I have yet to make a play. Find myself being very cautious now. Maybe exercising a bit too much DD. But, patience. Waiting for the setup. Don’t play just to make a play…that’s my strat. Ggs brother. Hope I can say “I did that”, soon enough.

Thanks for the education. I'm broke as hell in this pandemic. I have a tiny, micro, not even worth mentioning dividend portfolio, compound investing I guess it's called, that's helping with some gas money. Started looking into day trading and penny stock options. Came across the pdt rule started trying to formulate a plan to make the most out of 3 trades a week with about $100 and this is the first time hearing about futures market. I am fortunate that I was able to move off grid and minimize my living costs before the pandemic hit and I lost all my work and right now I'm scraping by on whatever back breaking labor I can find to make ends meet.

Yes I was hung up on the pdt rule. I was just going to start slow and build my account till I could say trade. Thank you for the info. I’ll do more research but hope they haven’t changed or added stipulations to the rule in the last 3 years since the video. What trading platform do you use. I’ve test drove a half dozen but they all seem to lack compared to what you’re using in your videos.

I usually do okay in futures markets, or sometimes I just plain lose, but one day with $100, I made $1,700, some of it was luck, but not all of it, it was during a time the fed announced another QE program, so I bet gold was going to go up and it did, way up that day. To be fair, I was trading currency pairs and was doing well in order to do enough orders to do the gold trades.

so. I can't get a margin account. And so I have a cash account. but have to have at least 2k to trade /MES and that's only 1 contract. So 2k only has a potential to make 5 per tick. Is there any other things you would suggest to get better margins?
