A question: if you offer a free shoot (to build your folio), will realtors who take the offer perceive you as worth paying for later on?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah! Why not? If it's good marketing material, it's good marketing material :) Thats the value to realtors. (+ if working with you is a good experience for them and their clients) There's a lot of realtors, so if someone is bad to you, you can always move on and find nicer people to work with. The main thing you need to get going is to get some solid sample work so you can use that to start building up clients. I would actually recommend reaching out to some model home sales reps in your area if there are any, instead of starting with realtors. Let them know what you're trying to do (get into the industry, build your portfolio, get connected to realtors etc) Then see if they would be ok with letting you shoot some photos at the model house (maybe just ask for like 30 min to shoot the living room, kitchen, and primary bedroom + some cool details) They are usually open to be public already, and compared to trying to work with a realtor first (whose sales, livelihood, client reputation, etc are on the line at listing appointments) Model houses are super nice, so that way your portfolio will be nicer to start for a website because you will get those high end looking interiors (more fun to shoot anyways!) instead of starting out with lower end realtors who might be more willing + looking for free photos. But if you're getting into the industry, the main things to focus on are getting good, and getting connected with as many people in the industry (realtors, brokers, mortgage reps, home insurance companies, inspection companies, etc) I just know model house sales reps don't mind free marketing stuff for IG or FB posts so if that is possible it could be a lot better for you as far as portfolio images AND getting connected to realtors they know that they might be able to refer you to if your work and vibe is good :) Also if there are no new communities near you, try shooting for anybody you know who has a cool house or room or anything. You don't need that many portfolio images for this type of work - mostly proof of concept.

I am looking to get into real estate photography and in the process of obtaining some of the equipment needed. I am looking to get a new laptop for the editing process since my current one is 8 years old. What do you recommend for someone on a budget of around $1200 for a computer that uses the windows platform. I currently have all the Adobe editing gear but it locks up my computer constantly. Thanks in advance and really appreciate your videos, they are very helpful.

Hey !! Excited for you. To be honest, I haven't used PC's in a long time so I'm not the best person to ask. I've seen some good reviews on Dell XPS and Razer on KZbin though. The main things to keep in mind for computer specs are the graphics card, processor power (7 Core+) and RAM (16gb+) and you should be good to go. Check these out maybe ? www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/sr/laptops/xps-laptops/intel-core-i7?appliedRefinements=6084,18402,27546 You might even be able to find a used one through this site swappa.com/laptops Hope that helps!

Great topic!! My best tip right off the bat is to get out and do some practice ones! Try shooting from about 15 min before the "sun set" (based on weather app) until about 15 min after the "sun set" - All lights on for the house - Interior and exterior with windows all open similarly, and you'll see what time frame works best (usually about 5 min after the "sun set" - But depends on the house - some have more light on the front at sunset and some have more on the back - and sometimes you want to wait until later so a pool glows more or shows off certain features :) For settings, I like to use F8, ISO 400, Shutter to set exposure, and bracket 3 shots -3 0 +3 in RAW and you should be set to get started!

@@diogomartinez7991 Ah yeah! That's awesome! It depends on what size files you need if your clients would need them for large scale use, but I've been really happy with my EOS R this last year w/ the 16-35 L series lens. You could go with most full frame cameras though! Maybe go with one that works with your lenses you already have so you could get the most out of your investment? For flashes, I have had a great experience using Flashpoint wireless system - not crazy expensive like some, and they have great options for different power output, sync speeds, etc. + great rechargeable battery life! All that gear is linked in this video and if you want to see it in action for a simple scenario! kzbin.info/www/bejne/foHHf2qJatatfc0 and I have a Whats In My Camera Bag video too, if you want to see / hear even more! Hope that helps :) Priority is having a tripod, wide lens, and off camera flash though!
