Cool, thanks for this.i always thought Stu used some special type of delay with some sort of freeze function or something. Cool to know you can do it with a pretty standard delay pedal.
@henrythehoover43632 жыл бұрын
dd-6 has a freeze function that i guess you could also use. With the dd-6 you could have it so that there is no delay sound until you hold down on the pedal instead of having to keep turning it on and off

A lotta people think it’s delay but it’s actually just the hold function. The speed is not dialed in per song, you just gotta be nice with your stomp timing
@gabewilliams7462 Жыл бұрын
No, this absolutely is the way it's done. Watch any live recording of theirs. They're not holding the pedal down (which by the way, sounds way different because there is no decay) they're just tapping it.
@LordBorbos Жыл бұрын
@@gabewilliams7462 if you watch the kexp or any of the rat’s nest performances closely you’ll notice that Stu always does a weird ballerina axe kick to time the hold loop length. The dd3 he uses for the metal stuff doesn’t have any knobs lol. On some of the older songs this hold stomp thing is stacked with the carbon copy to give it some trails. But also you gotta remember they have 3 guitarists. They all tag team with the stutter riffs, they’re just really talented so it sounds smooth af

This is great, I’ve been looking for this sound forever. What is your foot doing during this? Are you slamming the pedal on/off between every note, or does the delay prioritise newer notes. I’ve been using my DD200 for it and can’t seem to get rid of the overlapping notes, even though I’ve edited it so there is no decay. Appreciate any input!
@lonnyj.mammoth962 жыл бұрын
Second this query. It sounds in some parts that the repetitions are stopped as soon as you hit a new note...always wondered how this is achieved by King Gizzard ...such as .. in the song Digital Black after the first DIG-IT-AL...OOOOOH!!

Some delays have like a latch function where the effect kicks on only when you keep your foot on the pedal. That’s probably easier to work with

Trying to get mine to do what you're doing at 2:37. Each note is bleeding into each other bc obv it's delay, I'm trying to get it to where the delay is cutoff when you play the next note. I've got carryover turned off so I know clicking the pedal again turns it off to cutoff the delay, but turning it back on still played the delay from before. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
@gabewilliams7462 Жыл бұрын
@@macanderson7434 oh man that’s odd. Are you using the DD-3?
