I've been using the Vector Titanium for several months now and yes it can give a shave that rivals a straight razor. My only issue is after shaving taking the blade out isn't so easy. I find the blade really adheres to the head and simply doesn't want to come off and trying to finagle a sharp blade that is also a small unit can be dangerous. My solution is after shaving fill my mug with water and put the head in. That usually lets the head separate by itself in the water and the blade is much easier to remove. To the guy who wonders about the Rex. I have it and the vector is a giant step better in comfort and closeness.

I've been wanting one of these for a while now. And after 10 years of wet shaving and using other Artist Club style SE razors, this one here seems to have more options in terms of blade feel and exposure. I will getting the one with the light safety bar. Plus I can say first hand that these Artist Club blades last longer.

FYI feather what Shane says regarding Professional and Pro Guard contrasts with what Feather says. Feather says Professional is medium-sharp but Pro Guard is in par in sharpness with Super Professional.
@blacklandrazors
@blacklandrazors 7 ай бұрын
No that's not the case. The ProGuard is the same blade as the Professional, but is covered with a guard. The ProSuper blades have increased blade exposure so the blade sticks out more, making is more effective. It's likely that the ProSuper is also the same grind/cutting edge as the Pro and ProGuard, but I can't confirm that for sure.

I found the Vector to be instantly intuitive. There was no "dialing it in", it was just right out of the box. It gives me 95% of what I can get with a straight razor, but the straight takes more time and a lot more skill. It's my favorite razor.

Very informative video! I’m interested in purchasing one. I can’t really tell the difference between the satin and polished finishes on your website! Can you describe the differences? Does the satin finish for the vector stainless have any tooling marks? I know the polished finish does not. I’m not interested in the machined finish. Please answer. Thank you.
@blacklandrazors
@blacklandrazors 11 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! The polished finish is a true mirror polish where we remove all machine marks and shine the razor to a brilliant finish. The satin finish is a semi-matte finish that removes almost all machine marks and leaves behind a smooth, even finish that shimmers in the sun, but isn't reflective. I hope that helps. Thanks again!

A long time ago I used those Feather Professional blades in a Feather SE razor - sometimes the blades would stick together in the cartridge, making it very hard to remove. Very annoying.
@DeathScy7he

Another thing I'll say about the vector is to rinse it frequently for a smoother shave as depending on the blade reveal for the blade you go with reduces the room for hair to pass through. I have full cases of all of the feather artisan blades so I use either of them depending on my mood. If I want to take my time I'll use the proguard blade, if I want to get rid of a couple days worth of growth I'll use a professional blade, and finally, if I want to take off a week's worth of growth I'll use a super professional bade. My only gripe with Blackland right now is supply chain issues as the Saftey Bar Tradere has not been in stock for months (checking every 2-3 days). What I also can't understand is that they also do not allow customers to buy both heads like they do with the vector (which imo is stupid). Blackland I love your Razors but I hate you can't stock them frequently enough for customers like me to buy them.

Thanks for commenting! We'll have an update on the Tradere soon. It may not be what you want to hear, though, so be warned. You definitely don't need to check the website! Just subscribe to our newsletter and you'll know as soon as a product is restocked. We're also actively increasing our production capacity by bringing some production (very) close to home. That's going to open up our abilities to produce more of our current lineup and also add to our product list.

@@blacklandrazors Yup, I have to second the above request for a Tradere safety bar. The open comb is great, but I like having both options....like I got on the Vector SS a few months ago. I just shaved with my SS Vector yesterday and today after taking a month off (to use my new Blackbird--awesome!) and was pleasantly surprised this time around with the Vector. I totally agree with the advise to stick with a setup for more than one or two times before changing something. When I started with safety razors, I changed something every shave and got really inconsistent and frustrating results. Staying with the same setup (razor, blade, cream, etc.) for at least 3-4 consecutive shaves really improved my technique and results. It also made me realize I don't need preshave at all or to apply alum after every shave. Also, the video makes disassembly look tedious. I just unscrew the top and gently drop it from about 2 inches above my towel on the counter, threaded post side down. The 3 pieces fall apart, all get rinsed and dried with a towel, then left apart to air-dry the rest of the day. Blades seem to last longer. I use the drop technique on all my razors. But always onto a towel! No damage to razor or blade and no accidental finger cuts.
@blacklandrazors

@@timdixon6161 Thanks for sharing your disassembly method! That's a new one for me, but it makes sense. I wouldn't say that the method in the video is tedious (when you do it at full speed). Letting gravity do the work definitely speeds things up, though!

Looking to get a Vector Ti as my first non-cartridge (is that crazy - I figured buy once cry once). Any estimate when these will be back in stock? Also, do you offer an OC plate for the Vector Ti? Many thanks in advance, and thanks for creating this content.
@blacklandrazors
@blacklandrazors 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think that's crazy (well, maybe just a little). It's actually going to be an easy adjustment period for you since the Vector Titanium is so light. You're used to adding pressure so you'll find the Vector Ti to be similar to what you're using, but sooo much better! We expect to have these restocked in the coming weeks, probably next month. Keep an eye out for an email newsletter announcement once we have a restock date. Thanks!

Hey Richard thanks for commenting! The Vector SB is definitely what we'd recommend, assuming you're okay with branching out into single-edge razors. The Feather Professional is going to be in the ballpark of your current setup, but the ProGuard might be a good option, too.

We can solve this here! If you’re really unsure, the Vector is our most versatile razor due to all the blade choices. So you can’t go wrong there. Blackbird SS - Maximum performance, lots of blade feel, unbeatable efficiency Blackbird Ti - High efficiency, slightly less blade feel, a bit smoother Blackbird Lite - medium blade feel, super smooth, easy to use Vector SS - amazing all-rounder, great for everyone Vector Ti - slightly less blade feel, differences are subtle

Doe these blades take to the instruction of "Do Not Wipe", as do some of the double edged blades? (But I DO wipe the d.e. blades I use, regardless of these instructions; no other way to effectively clean them enough).
@blacklandrazors
@blacklandrazors Жыл бұрын
I don’t think the blades state that explicitly, but it’s generally advised not to wipe them down for risk of dulling the blade. That said, we wipe blades down occasionally and I’ve seen no issue shaving with a wiped blade.

The only time you might run into trouble with Artist Club blades would be wiping down a guarded blade. Those guards make it tough to wipe it down, but otherwise I don't think you'll have any problems.

Better is always subjective, but it’s quite different from the Rex and pretty universally loved. First, the Vector uses Artist Club SE blades which are longer, and thicker than DE blades. This allows the Vector to be incredibly nimble, compact, and light while the Rex is built like a tank. The Vector is highly unique and there is truly no shaving experience quite like it - except maybe the Vector Ti 😉
