I went and collected ores around 6 at each site before I had ore extractors set up and got my solar panels set up then I got my oil extractor running.

You only need 3 solar panels to get your oil extractor working not 8 as each gives 40 power and you need 100 to run your oil extractor

Well that was not very helpful. 8 Solar Panels is wrong for a start. you can power 3 of these with that many solar panels.

Just run the Oil Extractor. It makes the oil can - no extra crafting required.

Sorry I missed your question. The Oil Extractor creates the can with the oil in it. No extra crafting for the oil can needed.
