If you want to know how to get shredded and ripped muscle, then you won’t want to miss this video. I’m going to tell you exactly what it takes to be lean and muscular year round no matter what level of body fat you have right now. By the end, you’ll know what the three most important things you must do if you are looking to lose fat and get ripped.

The discussion was sparked by a viewer question for our AX Jeff series. The question reads:
“Hey Jeff, how do I get absolutely shredded like this guy? I mean, I know you know a thing or two about being crazy lean and hell, I’d even settle to be your level lean if I could. Any guidance would be appreciated!”
It’s not often that I get used as the fallback example for being lean, but when standing next to the world’s most shredded man Helmut Strebl, it’s the only logical place to be. We all know that in order to lose weight and get low body fat you have to establish an eating style that creates a hypocaloric state. This means, that you are taking in fewer calories than you are burning off in order to drop body fat.
That said, there are many different ways to do this. You can follow one of many different diet plans like Keto, Carnivore, or Atkins or even adopt a different eating style that manipulates the hours within with you eat your foods like Intermittent Fasting in order to get this to happen. Regardless of which you do however, realize that there are variables from person to person that ultimately dictate the effectiveness of the plan for getting you to your goals.
I like to use the analogy of creating a hole in the ground. There are many different ways to do this as well. You could use a shovel to dig one of course, but as Jesse suggests there are meteors that can blast giant holes in the ground, your dog could dig one and the Earth itself could spontaneously drop into a sink hole.
The fact is, if you chose to dig with a shovel, the variety of shovel blade and grip would represent the differences between people and the rate at which they see results (and the ultimate level of fat loss) when they follow these diet plans.
Once you put your shovel in the ground however you are digging. And digging the hole is the process of losing fat. The deeper the hole you dig the lower your body fat level will be. If you think of it this way you can quickly see how things like the ability to focus on the task at hand, remain consistent with the digging and not getting distracted by social pulls would enable you to dig a hole deeper and deeper even if it proceeded perhaps at a slower rate than someone else you know using the same method.
There is a genetic component to discuss as well. Someone like Helmut who has superior muscle building genetics is always going to find it easier to achieve insane levels of low body fat than someone else who struggles with foods and eating or doesn’t have the muscularity that looks like his even at low levels of body fat. Maybe genetically you’re digging with a spoon and he is digging with a backhoe. It doesn’t matter, if he stepped away from the machine and you kept digging you would ultimately have a deeper hole.
And that is the point, consistency of effort is ultimately the thing that determines how low you can go.
You must decide as well what you will do when you encounter your first obstacle. All of us at some point in a weight loss and fat loss journey will plateau. Here you must either change the tool you are using or at least be willing to do an honest assessment of what your meal plan looks like right now to find the areas you can make improvements.
Sometimes, these sacrifices are too much for some to handle and while losing their body fat they also lose their minds. This makes it unsustainable for them and not something they can do long term to get ripped and stay shredded. If this is you, I would implore you to take a step back and instead find the level of body fat that you can maintain that keeps you happy and healthy.
If you’re looking for complete meal plans that will help you get ripped and stay lean year round, be sure to visit athleanx.com via the link below and remember to use the program selector to select the plan best suited to your current body fat and goals.

Then only drink water (no food) for 4 days to flush out electrolytes. Make sure to only do cardio workouts for the 4 days. Followed by 3 days no water (no food) and sitting in a sauna and riding a stationary bike to sweat out the water. If you don't die you will be lean. Weight loss should be 10 to 15 lbs on average.

I got all your vids in maps sorted on bodyparts. You gave me crazy nice workouts that ppl were staring at me asking themselves what I was doing and I did it with much much joy getting very good results. With your excercise there are no excuse. The most beautiful workout I ever had is for the legs where you walk back at a chestfly machine and put on heavy , walk back and slowly let yourself push in front giving resistance, idk if you know what I mean, but this exercise made me love doing legs, I wanted to do it everyday, finally my legs burning without doing squats, which I couldnt do right, so it was no fun.

For some its 5%, for others its 15% or even more.

Hi Jeff and Jesse! Thanks for all you do. I had a thought the other day. Jeff, I think it would be very interesting for you to make a year long program! Something that you can start January 1st through the end of the year. Just a thought, have a great day stay safe!

Great video! I'm a 56 year old woman working the old school iron program and in 45 days my strength has REALLY increased - I'm pressing 45 lb dbs - a month ago I could only press 35lbs. I love oatmeal and chicken but my husband is a runner and a dessert eater, likes cheese and wine and post-dinner chips for days... and he is a skinny dude. It's tough to pursue a different meal plan but I'm starting down that path to dig that hole. I worked out for two hours yesterday and contribute that to my AM large bowl of oatmeal (I add coconut). Thanks, Jeff, for your well thought out video and not lumping everyone into one bucket. You've inspired me to stick to my plan.

Socially changing the way you deal with dieting is so true. I feel it depends on how social you are. For me, pre-covid, I would normally socialize with friends on weekends. To compensate, my diet during the week was 110% effort so that I could do what I wanted with friends on weekends. Always need to find what works for you. Well said Jeff.

Jeff makes some really good analogies... I've been struggling with my weight for decades... I've realized that my main issue was that I was never really creating a Caloric Deficit... I kept failing on my diet plan... It's definitely my lack of discipline... I have since turned my life around with a proper High Protein, Low Carbo, Zero Sugar diet... Thanks Jeff...

Ax Jeff question: I'm in college with a meal plan offered by the University (which is pretty much cafeteria food) how can I still eat well to get gains (trying to lose fat and gain muscle)
@stormrhode2330
@stormrhode2330 3 жыл бұрын
Probably skip the pizza and pasta (at least 5 days of the week; progressive changes, as Jeff was saying). Load up on the healthier foods the cafeteria offers such as fruits, vegetables, and simple proteins. And remember that food you eat outside the cafeteria is just as important, so start incorporating wise choices there, too. Like this video is suggesting, it's important to assess and value. Depending on your lifestyle and what physical state you're looking for, you might want to simply gradually ease up on the high-sugar/carb foods or cut them out all together. Hope that helps. :) Edit: and of course, don't forget to exercise and sleep well!

Eat only vegetables fruit and meat. Lose all the processed carbs and things made from flour. It’s very hard because no one around you is going to do it but it’s the truth. You can get away with a small amount of carbs if you workout enough or do cardio2/3 times a week. In college I had 9-10 percent body fat from 3/4 stair climbing sessions a week for 45 min. I ate pescatarian back then (90s). You have to be ok with being unique and not give in to what others around you do and make your own path. I’m 48 now and still maintain the same waist size I had then at 187lbs. I was 175 back then in college but with smaller chest and arms.

Eat enough protein and eat in a caloric deficit. Doesn't really matter what you eat, just depends how hunger effects you. If you don't have a hunger issue eat whatever but a small amount. Of you do struggle just go with the low cal options.
