If you haven't played Dota 2 for at least 500 hours, you know nothing about this game. It is the most challenging competitive game in its genre. The grand tournament winners have played this game for at least 10 years, and most of them have easily at least 15000 hours spent in this game.
@illustris.7 жыл бұрын
Not really 500 hours. I mean, just a hundred and you'll figure that out. Unless you're really new to the MOBA scene where you don't even know how to move.

DotA is somewhat like chess as far as how much effort/time is required to pick up and subsequently master the game. Learning the basics for either isn't dead simple, but it isn't out of this world hard either. Really learning the intricacies requires a huge amount of study and practice. Then, even if you do that, you'll be up against other people who have done the same, so the game remains incredibly difficult. Those who play at such an advanced level are just playing it in a whole different way from those who haven't put the same amount of time and effort into it.

Most simple way to explain it, is imagine Dota as a pendulum, and teams need to acquire enough momentum to push the ball to the other side which kills enemy base. You gain momentum from better drafting, from farming more, from taking objectives(towers, rax, shrines). But you can also lose that momentum and the ball can start swinging back
@Yaneriaf7 жыл бұрын
This does not make it simpler at all. Terms like drafting, farming, taking objectives mean nothing to the average viewer of Vice

So to become world elite in 2000 hours is very good, but 2000 hours aint much playing each day, when i played bf2142 back in the days i used min 8 hours each day on the game for many years.

"This isn't a game bro, this is life." It might sound ridiculous but it's true. You could have played hundreds even thousands of hours and you'll still be learning the game, not to mention the huge learning curve if you're starting. The thing with dota is it constantly evolves and meta shifts completely every year and there are times where it shifts just after a few months or after a major which makes people who play it say its a different game after a massive patch. Which is true because if you look at dota in 2013 compared to now it would seem like a different MOBA. The meta shifts aren't small either, it can be big enough that it can destroy the strengths of a team and make them irrelevant. Which is the main reason why the international has never seen a 2 time champion (even just a single player) until TI9(2019).
