Wow!! I'm speechless in the form you explained and the best part is, I understood every word you said. You have a way in speaking to people at least in my opinion. I'm just a person that loves to sew and loves to learn much more professionally than just having someone explain what a sewing machine needle is. I'm beginning to design my own clothes now (just for me) because some designs out there, well, do not fit my style unless I'm 20 and a size 0. I'll admit I am what the fashion industry calls large size I'm a 16 and either the fashion industry doesn't care how we look or just wants to poke fun trying to dress us as if the circus just arrived in town with large bright colors, I'm surprised the clown nose and shoes where not included with the outfit. I thank you very much for what you do helping us to understand about fashion, fabrics, etc. I am a subscriber now..YOU INSPIRE ME. Thanks again

It's not that different. Every designer has different skills so you build your career emphasizing your skills. You don't need to order the fabric in advance. You don't make samples, you make the gown. You should still create a tech pack to organize yourself and communicate with your client.

Thank you for your video - I have a question, if someone hires me to draft a pattern and sew up a sample for them, what should they give to me to start the process ?
@poojasuresh57205 жыл бұрын
Hi Zoe, What would you say is the time required to be production ready once your initial sketches are completed? Meaning, no tech packs, flat sketches, patterns etc. I guess what I'm asking is how long does it take to develop the designs?
@zoehongteaches5 жыл бұрын
That varies hugely, depending on how many people are working on one collection, how much time can be devoted to it, if you're geographically close to everyone you work with, it goes faster, etc etc etc
@zoehongteaches5 жыл бұрын
Also depends on what kinds of garments you're developing, if you're working on new technology, very unconventional designs (it takes no time to make a tshirt, for example), how hard it is to source materials, etc
@poojasuresh57205 жыл бұрын
@@zoehongteaches Thank you for your response Zoe! I'm an entrepreneur interested in Fashion and I have a few coat designs that I am trying to bring to life. I have been binge watching your very informative videos and they have been very helpful. The reason for my question is, I have been talking to product development and production houses to outsource the process and I have been getting a mixed bag of answers. Some say it takes a whole year and some are able to develop and produce in 2-3 months. Its safe to assume that they are all almost at the same capacity. Its quite confusing to determine if the timeline (I have set for myself to launch this) is viable or not!
@zoehongteaches5 жыл бұрын
Ask the people why it takes a whole year. That's a long time. Or ask the people taking 2-3 months what guarantee they have of that time frame. Sounds like they're overpromising. In situations like this, they're also thinking about how mnay people they employ and how many projects they're working on right now. Ask them more questions.
