Caitlin, this is great advice, thanks! I've been doing this for my wife for a very long time (together 26 years) - and it's a wonderful way to make it all about her!! (glad to know I've been doing it right all along!!) Usually starts with a back massage as she keeps a lot of tension there (work and 3 kids can do that!) - so I focus on that first, but if time and privacy permits, those oiled hands proceed elsewhere. She enjoyed this while pregnant too as it truly relaxed the body (and to your point on allowing the area to stretch - all 3 kids were natural births with no tearing - so hopefully this contributed!) I think more men really do need to learn this - they might achieve a new and greater level of intimacy with their partner than before! Cheers.

Episiotomy is purely for the doctor's convenience or medical emergencies. They are female multilation which cause more pain in healing than natural tears.They only sped delivery by 30 minutes but can cause pain for years later with things like rectoceles. I know this from academic training for being a natural childbirth instructor and as mom of three. Massage help avoid tears but you have to choose birth attendant wisely to avoid cutting.

I was confused about your admonition to keep breathing. What's the alternative? Holding your breath? Also, it was refreshing to hear you tell the woman to communicate to the man what feels good and what doesn't. I love hearing a woman letting me know how good something feels so I know I'm on the right track. On a first encounter, many women are a bit shy in verbalizing their feelings. I guess they think they're being critical of their partner's technique, but he'll never get it right without feedback, positive and negative.

Spice things up with roleplay, if you don’t have time then maybe get a vibrator or something to get it going. The goal is to not make her feel guilty, but for her to see how you feel. regarding episiotomy - great advice on massage (it's also a fantastic place to massage anyway) - however, if I recall correctly, surgical practice has changed regarding the location of incision due to the amount of nerve damage commonly experienced.

I have had great luck with both Astroglide and believe it or not, almond oil. As long as they are not allergic to almonds or tree nuts, I would recommend the almond. It smells good and can be used in full body massage. If you use latex condoms, use the Astroglide. It is silicone based however, so do not use it with silicone based toys. It will break them down. The almond oil can be found in the personal care section of most natural food stores. Astroglide is available in the family planning.section of most drug and grocery stores in the USA.

It’s especially difficult for me to be comfortable bc of past sacral trauma but I think each interaction is unique. Each time, even with the same person so make sure you’re completely and utterly comfortable with your partner. It’s important not to have too many expectations and be open to learning. Best thing in the world, most women lack knowledge of their own genitals, not just men. Adequate foreplay, of which, as you say, yoni massage can be a wonderful component. Above the public bone is a great introductory area too. Getting used to massage of areas other than the yoni is a good idea too. Definitely 100% on your advice to file nails and any rough skin. Isn't the practice of cutting along the perineum is now discouraged?
