I couldn’t even imagine driving a bandit with these upgrades. Just with the 8.4 volt NIMH or 7.4 volt 2s Lipo my rear tires are already completely warn smooth from all the power.

I have the wheels and tires for a Rally on mine. They're bigger and handle the speed better. The Slash tires work too. Next Im going to put rustler suspension on to make it a little wider.

The standard Traxxas tires always wear fast especially on asphalt. I got a brushless slash 4x4 I run with a 3s and I put on some new Traxxas slash tires I had and was racing it up and down my street and after one battery they were all almost bald in the center of the tires. After running it a second time they were completely bald in the center. The standard tires are fine if your in the dirt or on road if your running a slower brushed model, but if your racing around on asphalt with a brushless you definitely need some street tires.

The XL5 bandit should come with the same hub carriers that the XL5 Rustler comes with. The little bronze bushings are fine, but when it comes time to upgrade to bearings the little 5x8x2.5 sized bearings simply don't hold up and create more rolling resistance. Therefore it's a must to upgrade to the Rustler or Bandit VXL hub carriers which use the more robust 5x11x4 bearings. It's really a waste to have different hub carriers for the XL5 Bandit while the Rustler, Slash and Stampede XL5 all use the same hub carriers.

You can put the Rustler hub carriers in the Bandit with the beefier bearings. They're included from the factory on the Bandit VXL. I guess traxxas just wanted to save a few bucks on the cheaper XL5 model.

Pretty much did the same thing but with Castle Creations Sidewinder 3 and 4600 Kv motor combo. Used the body reamer tool to make holes to mount the speed controller cage to the mounting plate. Gotta say it looks like it was made to be that way.

The Bandit doesnt come with a 31 tooth pinion gear, although it even says that it does on the gearing options in the box

Like I said on the last video which was go faster with the Stampede, of course a brushless motor n esc is gonna make it go faster LOL but yes gearing change is a good way to gain speed, bearings help too

I installed the battery expansion kit which Traxxas assured would work and fit fine. Install was easy but the body will not fit

Or just buy the Bandit VXL to start with. The standard model is more suited for having fun with your younger kids you don't want to give control of a 60 mph car to.

Cheaper option would be to use the Rustler VXL's stock gearing which is 25 tooth pinion and 83 tooth spur. This combo will get you over 30mph while not effecting low end punch or runtimes. You can also buy a 7 cell 5000 mah NiMh pack and charge it at 5 amps or a 2S 5800 pack.

If I recall correctly, the speed controllers in the Rustler 4x4 (both XL-5 and VXL) bolt directly onto the chassis and a mounting plate is not needed

Idk if you still need help but yo can try this. If your having trouble getting your pinion gear off due to Lock-Tight, and not because its jammed, all you have to do is heat up your pinion gear with a heat gun. Once heated up your gear will pull right off without any issues. You can also do this for set screws too.
