I put proline 2.8 trenchers on my old 4x4 Slash slapped a monster fusion body , it runs like a beast. I also have a new Slash 4x4 ultimate too. I stripped the telemetry and put it on my UDR. Still pondering switching the OBA to the udr. Not much room for it

Not necessarily. Upgrading from a NiMH battery to a LiPo battery can give you a boost in power. Also, having a good set of tires optimized for where you drive will allow you to put more of your power to the ground effectively. In addition, changing the gearing can also give you more speed (just make sure to watch your motor temps).

We did the budget version of this we bought some cheap Monster tires a cheap brushless 9 turn motor and left the gearing alone we probably only spend about 60 bucks in total

I ran a 35t pinion 76t spur with a 9.6v traxxas series 5 Nimh with a SCT3800 and hit a whopping 58mph. Could have possibly gotten a little faster. At those speeds it was feather light in the front.

No. The gearing shown here is only for speed runs on flat surfaces...The video states this somewhere towards the beginning. For bashing use the original 13t set up for overall health of the components.

If you mean control as in the speed controller, then yes you do have to swap it. If you mean control as in the transmitter, then no, you can keep using what you have.

If you want to get more power out of your battery, I would suggest going to a 2s LiPo battery. Even though 2s LiPo's have a lower nominal voltage, they can produce significantly more current than most NiMH batteries. Also, if you look around, you can find decent 2s LiPo batteries that cost even less than NiMH's.

The best I got is just make sure the motor mount screws are tight. Since these go into a metal motor can, you can be a little harder in tightening them versus plastic threads everywhere else.

Issac 17 what do you use, I’ve had that problem of heating if it’s warm out on 3s. I Can’t find a fan to cool it. I usually just run them both, let one cool down. I have two both 4x4. A monster slash and a regular ultimate version.

You can run either of those 3s batteries in a Rustler VXL no problem. The motor system only takes whatever current it needs, and the C-rating of the battery indicates the battery's capability at delivering that current. Other than being harder on your wallet, running a higher C-rating is generally not a problem. My only concern though would be that those batteries may not fit in a 2WD Rustler. Regarding run time, that's going to vary based upon your vehicle's setup, how you drive, and the conditions where you drive. But for reference, my 2WD Rustler has a Castle Sidewinder SCT with a 3800kV motor geared at 16/90 and 2.2 inch Proline Trencher stadium truck tires. Using a 2s 5000mAh 50C LiPo, I usually get around 30 minutes of runtime driving on a mix of loose dirt and gravel.

Traxxas or anyone, I need help! I have a Traxxas slash 2wd that I upgraded to brushless 3500 velenion and got a 11.1v 3s battery. After spending all that money my car only goes 38mph! Is that how it is or is there something wrong!

Make sure that your ESC is properly calibrated and that it's not in training mode (which limits throttle). Also check your driveline for any bearings that may be worn or seized. If that's good, change your gearing. The stock 16/90 gearing won't be enough for the advertised 65, even on 3s. Lastly, be sure to use a LiPo with a high C rating. That will ensure that the battery is able to handle the current that the motor is pulling.
