Thats actually a good driver that know what hes doing. Motors are the same in these cars.
@brentongardner96815 жыл бұрын
@@22mrranger If this is U.M.P series as stated in a comment above the motors are absolutely not the same these would be super late models not a crate engine series. The only thing the same about them is one 4 barrel carb. These engines could range from anywhere around 360c.i to about 428c.i they could have anywhere from 450h.p to nearly 1000hp some could be over 1000hp at larger tracks where the power can be put on the ground. Their are basically no rules except it must be a small block it must have 1 single 4 barrel carb. Besides that the sky is the limit. Many of these cars have engines purchased from Roush, Hendricks, or Yates. They can spend up to 70 grand on a motor with full engineering support. These guys are spending ungodly amounts of money. it's not unheard of to have 130 thousand in a race ready car. They are classified as super late models as I said before which means no power or cubic inch limits.
@22mrranger5 жыл бұрын
@@brentongardner9681 i get what you're saying, but even ump cars can be sanctioned under different promoters with different rules. At my 3 local tracks in northeast Missouri, every car that races in a field is only allowed to be the same, a crate can only be used in sport mod or a mod but has to be at certain spec to be able to race. When the late models show up, they are running under their rules. But the promoter still sets the rules on motors, weight, and offest on front a arms. But at our local tracks the tech team is the same team, and two are my relation. They have even told me i could not run because of issues with my car before. So i agree with you but also want you to think about the promoter of the races and the rules they input. Quincy Illinois is a bowl, and on late model and a mod the rules are the same for motors. Basically like nascar in a sense. They all have the same motor, same car, same weight, but the body is different, the brand of motor is different, but all have to make the same equal points. My favorite it when people tweak the offset over 3 on the a-arms. In our local series 3 is max, but one track by Marshalltown allows up to 4. Ive heard of 5 in kansas, but thats hear say.

This is nothing new. I've seen Scott bloomquist do this against the best of the best. If you know know how to set a car up for the track you're running that night and you can wheel it, anything is possible. Again,I've seen Bloomquist go from the back to the front, have something happen and go back to the rear and race his way back to the front in just a few laps. It also depends on the rest of the drivers.

You see it happen. Show up late, start the feature from the back, and blow through the field with a dominant car and aggressive driver. Not so rare actually. The big question I have is why did no one else run the high line? Nobody even tried that I saw. Perhaps conventional wisdom had it that that did not work on that track. Hmm, seemed to work awfully well in fact.

I'm not doubting this guys ability to drive and/or set up a car. But this seems to be another case of having $10,000 and up more into the engine, chassis, parts, tires, etc. than anyone else as well. Most small local tracks will have those couple guys in each class that just have more money and dominate because of it. Again, I'm not doubting this guys talent.
@tcjohnson34374 жыл бұрын
I would guess more than 10K for that engine. Crates go for 6-8K. Less than 500hp. Thats car has a super in it. Could be 900hp. Sounded like it. I read the comments. Talk all that UMP bullshit they want. Thats a super in that car on this day.
@adamnatta29004 жыл бұрын
@@tcjohnson3437Oh I certainly agree. I re-read my comment and I dont think I worded it as well as I might have hoped I did. I meant to say he probably has at least $10,000 MORE into his car than his competition has in their cars.
