Hi, and thanks, maybe you can help me: I used an oil based adhesive on a polyurethan casting and after a couple of days many air balls appeared under the leaf! I didn't put the kaolin powder underneath, may it be for that reason?

There is no need for protective coating, even for exterior applications. Only possibly If the piece was located in an area where people might touch it frequently, but then it may lose some luster.
