I did exactly this to mine a few months back , got it off ebay nice and cheap. It does leave a 1 or 2 mil gap between the seal and screen and the dirt can build up there but I'm happy enough. At the same time I fixed the leaking windscreen, went to screwfix and got a cannister of black silicone weatherproof sealant and put it in a sealant gun and went around the whole screen after removing the A post trim. Doesn't leak at all now , lucky with that one I thought only a professional screen out and re-bonding was going to be the only cure.

Legend, just started restoring my mk3 gti and this was exactly what I needed to know. I was also about to replace the timing belt using the video you did on the KR engine but discover that I've got a valve cover leak that's contaminated the old belt. Guess I'll deal with that first. Cheers man.

Thanks mate, On the 8V timing belt, the crank marks are the same, Put the crank @ TDC and remove the ignition cap and under the dust cover you'll see another mark on the body of the dizzy which should line up with the rotor arm, make sure lines up after replacing the timing belt, 👍🏼

Love this!! Problem I have is making the rain tray sit flush with the screen despite using new plastic screw thingys!!??
@RestoDesignsnando3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, maybe try adjusting the tabs on the body that the plastic screws go into, they are made to be moved and over time they may have been pushed inwards which will tilt the rain tray outwards if that makes senses.

This is awesome! I have puddle forming on the passenger floor due to water leaking directly into my cabin air intake/housing. The rain tray is missing a larger section of the seal and allowing water to drip directly in the cabin filter housing. Going to be doing this very soon! I just need to find where to buy near me/in the USA so I'm not waiting extra long on the mailman
