That is NOT a Pekingese. Pekingese are brachycephalic (flat-faced) dogs. That being said, I loved this video. My local groomer said that they can no longer groom him because he's 15 years old so I'm trying to do it myself. This is a great step-by-step video of how to groom him. The only part I'm missing is how to clean his face folds.

My Pekingese doesn’t have an undercoat and that’s a diffrent time of coat then most of the Pekingese that I have seen

Not a Pekingese. Coat, body shape, length of leg, head and face completely different from a Peke. I believe it's a Japanese Chin.

They call this a field coat pekingese- the coat- or something like that- my vet explained it to me. Both of my pups have this coat, but they are also mixed: Japanese chin- pekingese- and shih tzu, but the pekingese does have another coat called a girl coat which is like this & I love it bc it’s basically a puppy cut 24/7. It never grows all the way down the ground the way my other pekingese dogs did when I was a kid. I read in an article that the way to tell if ur pup has more Japanese chin than pekingese is to hold them in one hand- all 4 paws & if they balance they are shaped more like a chin bc the chin can balance whereas the pekingese which is longer will not be able to balance. My Jax my male is smaller like his mama & has the chin shape, but peke field coat. My female Sophie has the longer peke body & falls right over as she is unable to balance herself. Idc if they are mixed bc they are my service pups & I love them dearly. I’m disabled & hearing impaired. Jax has been on the job for 13 yrs & Sophie for 5. I love them as much as I love my 5 kids. (The 4 paws in ur hand is like the pups at the circus on a ball & yes they can do it if jap chin. The peke has a heavier head which makes them top heavy & they have a longer body which makes it harder for them to balance & they generally topple forward. My Jax has been balancing on my head/shoulders since he was a wee pup & long before I read the article & yes I made him stop except in bed where he has a soft landing.)

Finally! A video so I can stop giving my poor pups the worst cuts in the history of puppy cuts. Lol. I have a 13 y/o male named Jax that will let me cut right up to his pee pee & not move a millimeter bc he absolutely loves being groomed. And yet his daughter Sophie asks like an animal that’s going off to be slaughtered if I even come near her with nail clippers. Lol. I have tried literally everything to get her to enjoy the process the way her dad does bc I used to be able to afford the expensive groomers, but as I’m disabled & on a very limited budget I now have to do this myself. The odd part is Sophie loves the bath part. She will jump in the bath with me if I don’t bar him from entering. Lol. She even demands to play fetch during my showers by throwing her toys in my shower & if I don’t throw them back she will come in after them. Lol. She likes them to get wet & clean I guess. I honestly don’t know what goes through that kind of hers, but she & her toys are without a doubt some of the cleanest in this country. Lol. Which is pretty hilarious bc my girl loves mud. She is happiest getting herself good & dirty. Lol. I figured she started doing it just so she could get a warm bath. She’s a cream colored pekingese- shih tzu- Japanese chin mix & she’s a riot. Thanks for teaching me how to care for my little terror. Now if I can just get her to stand still for it. Lol
