That was very instructive and complete. Many useful tips for us DIY Aussie parents, but also a good advertisement for having a true professional, such as yourself, handle our Aussie friends’ grooming needs. And what a Trooper was Pirate! Thank you!

I loved that video on grooming, he is a beautiful dog and ca tell he’s being well taken care of! I have a mini Aussie and need to know whether it’s a good idea to cut his coat for the summer months! He was a working dog but I have retired him to a town dog! 😂 I was wondering if o can trim him myself since I have clippers but not sure where to start! He is going on 13 and doesn’t want to stand very long! I have had him shaved and he feels much better just not where to start! Can you help me? Thanks

Alice The Corgi I know your not talking to me but just keep doing it when your bathing it. Soon it gets used to it. Be patient 😊. I'm not a expert in dogs though

My Aussie hates bath time, he hates getting brushed, he hates the hair dryer, and he hates getting his nails cut. Anything that has to do with Ozzy being clean and not smelly he hates. Other than that he loves everything.

I watched part one and part two! Very nice (: I loved it! I have a miniature Australian Shepherd and I live in the pacific northwest so we have a wet climate and lots of moisture I know it can irritate the dogs skin if you bath them too much, but I'm in high school and need to groom my dog myself, how often would you bathe and brush him? He's in an inside dog and my mother hates all the hair he leaves behind but he's like my child and I want to take care of him the best I can! (: thank you!

Furminators tear out the hair. A slicker brush and a steel comb is all you need for a double coated dog. You seem to be just whacking him with that brush. What about line brushing with that slicker? That’s the first thing everyone knows is impirtant for a double coated breed. I agree, she is rough with him. I groom my Aussie and Old English Sheepdog and there is no reason to manhandle them this way.

I have a question about diluting shampoos. Once you dilute a shampoo or conditioner, do you have to use it all right away or can it be stored in diluted form? Thanks!

Dogs like that need brushing daily - I'd start them as pups. No other way are you going to keep them from getting snarls and tangles. Don't they have dog hair conditioners that help detangle after a bath?

Savannah Nelson I worked as a dog groomer... She wasn't being rough on the dog, she was being exact. You have to really dig on a thick coated dog to get all the way down to the skin. the biggest mistake folks make while bathing a thick coated dog, is not scrubbing hard enough to get down to the skin or not rinsing enough to get the shampoo out of the fur. The doggy smell comes from the anal glands, if they aren't emptied properly, they can become painful, swollen, and cause constipation. It looks rough, but it is not painful (imagine your hairstylist messaging your scalp...same thing, only full body)

I live in Florida and I am getting my Aussie puppy tomorrow. What puppy shampoo and adult shampoo and conditioner and bright white shampoo do you recommend?

Addie Marie Actually, I’ve found the BEST thing to use on my Aussie is a soap from a company called Legendary Canine. It’s a bar soap, lathers great, rinses completely SO FAST, smells great and is all natural. Just google them!

Not really! He's only a year old too! He wasn't a hyper puppy either. It's the perfect medium. If I want to just lay down, hang out, or watch a movie he's perfectly fine but we love to go on runs and play fetch all the time! (:

my 9 year old dachund has been coughing since August. he has been scratching itching chewing and licking himself everywhere. We give his a bath every month (not including emergency baths) we tried oatmeal shampoo and I srcrubed him good for about 5 minute to get the soap right. then rinsed him for about 10 minutes and blow dried him with a low power hair dryer. but he still coughs itches scratches and licks himself he makes himself bleed. WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY DOG IM WORRIED HE IS 10 YEARS OLD AND HE ONLY GOES OUTSIDE WHEN I TAKE HIM WE GIVE HIM FLEA MEDICINE VERY MONTH (we sometimes switch medicines though because of the price)

You bath him way too much! A dog should only be given a bath if its an emergency, the skin gets dry and Itchy. I would stop with shampooing and contact a vet about tips. It's okay to bath without schampoo, but You're doing it too much. If you dont want to contact a vet go and Google a bit, and look if anyone described how to know the dog has been bathed too much, and you'll know if you have or not. Good luck! :)

crzy cowgirl I felt the same way. Slicker brushes are very sharp when that much force is used. If you can't use that much force on your own skin then don't on theirs. Also I personally would never ever recommend a furmenator on a double coated dog. It has a blade an cuts the under coat instead of just removing what is ready.

Great except the end when you spent more time on the opposite side of the camera and you sprayed that cancer causing chemical where he breathed it in his sinus and sneezed from it. Natural herbs, tea tree oil, etc is all you need.
